Wonder if they'll attach a few UK dates to this, it'll have been 18 months or so.

Must be so hard to book gigs with certainty at the moment though. These european dates have been put back from March 20, to September 20, to March 21, to September 21, and I guess there's no guarantee yet that gigs will even be possible by then. Let's hope so, though. My fingers are well and truly crossed!

of course we all get excited like little kids at the signs of a "new" tour. easy to forget -as mr Donut says- that this is a tour 3 times rescheduled.... some uk dates would indeed be nice. but if i can get to see them on my birthday in Groningen it would be lovely. come on Universe -kick this cu[nting virus into touch! the powers that be are no match for chaos obviously.

Regarding 2021 GB dates you have to wonder if it will be worth their time doing all the extra paperwork to lug all the kit over the Channel post bloody Brexit for a few extra gigs.

A depressingly valid point.

I have asked for my money back for the Den Haag gig, with the dates changing it's really not convenient. Kept Maastricht, waiting for Liege and will see which other gigs would be interesting to go to once they are actually taking place

Sad news for The 1975 ...

I hope by summer/autumn europe-wide vaccination will have progressed as far as to allow all The Sisters gigs to take place ... *sigh ...

“Sad news for The 1975 ...”

Worse news for the 2021 ;p

Thing to remember about the vax is that it stops you from getting sick from the disease, it doesn’t stop you from contracting the disease and therefore passing it on. So while the vax is a great step forward it’s the first step in a long road back to normality. Also as we’ve seen with the current mutations, this thing is gonna be with us forever most likely, like the flu and not disappear like SARS, with annual boosters I would imagine

That's not what I understood to be the case. The vaccine confers immunity, meaning you don't get the disease at all.

OTOH I am not a virologist or epidemiologist

As I understand it the current vaccines prevent a significant number of people (90%+) from suffering the severe form of the illness and so lessen the chance of death. They don't confer immunity or stop transmission. I stress I'm not a virologist or a GP and I'm eagerly awaiting my place in the queue at some point in the months to come.

As I understand it, it is certain that you don’t get any symptoms. If you can’t transmit the disease is so far uncertain. And I really don’t understand that there are so many people in Germany who don’t want to be vaccinated.

Summary of the thread:

---

Alright team, let's get to another pressing vaccine question a lot of you had asked recently: Can those who have gotten complete doses (2 shots) of #COVID19Vaccines transmit SARS-CoV-2 to others?

The short answer is, we aren't sure. This is because the first thing clinical trials looked for is who was getting Covid-19—a symptomatic illness as a result of an infection with SARS-CoV-2. Which is good! That's the main job of a vaccine!

To get Covid-19, your body has to be sufficiently overwhelmed with SARS-CoV-2. To get there, SARS-CoV-2 has to have copied itself a lot. We don't know if the vaccine prevents SARS-CoV-2 replication altogether, or just enough so the person doesn't get sick.

If vaccines only prevent a person from getting sick, they could *maybe* still give the virus to others. Which is why it's important for folks who are vaccinated to wear masks + physically distance until we know more.

PCR tests or antibody tests looking for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies other than the ones the vaccine prompts could answer these q. So could tracking community spread over time.

There's more info in that thread, and here: https://qz.com/1954762/can-you-spread-c ... e-vaccine/
Frustratingly, it’s just going to take more time to see if people who got the vaccine are involved in future transmission events. That’s why it’s vital that even after receiving both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, all individuals wear masks, practice physical distancing, and wash their hands when around those who haven’t been vaccinated—just in case.
TL;DR: they're not sure because they didnt check for it, that scenario was not the purpose of originally developing the virus, but they're looking into it now

Aha! Thanks boss. A good honest "we don't know" is always preferable to misinformation.

I notice the Nephilim has just rescheduled for September too. Given the most people who go to gigs won't be vaccinated (in the UK at least) til summer and nobody is sure about whether vaccinated people can spread the virus or how long the immunity is for, does anybody think gigs will go ahead? I don't know how bad things are in Europe but in the UK and Ireland things are pretty rubbish. I can't see it sadly.

Absolutely. If the CDC had stated back in March “hey we don’t know if wearing a mask will help but let’s assume it will and err on the side of caution” maybe we’d be in a different shape, but maybe not. Instead they offered a resounding “mask won’t help so don’t bother” and that is what stuck for a lot of people. Pathetic leadership.

And I know the reasons were partly to prevent hoarding and allow medical workers to have enough PPE to go around, but that didn’t work either did it. PPE was in short supply anyway and you couldn’t (still can’t) buy a mask if you wanted to. Plan totally backfired.

And this is the first world....

Yeah that mask thing from the CDC back in March was a bit of a cock-up. :/
