when you close the chat window it tries to launch a little popup that logs you off properly. if you have any software installed to prevent popups (which are usually spam, but not in this case!) it wont log you off properly... and you have to wait for your "chat session" to expire normally (which should be about 20 mins)

its a pretty crap feature of the chat thing actually... not the best way of doing it! especially as popup killers are gettig more and more popular (and neccessary!)
