I've had a copy of this song for nearly thirty years, and have listened to it hundreds of times, but today's the first time I've watched the video.
And it's Dominion – I guess this won't be a surprise to most, but I've never come across it mentioned anywhere – but it's clearly the template for the Dominion music video, even down to the specific crops, use of slow mo, fades etc.
Anyone know the story behind it?

I believe Dominion was filmed before Im Nin‘Alu. And I somehow don‘t think Ofra Haza knew the video at the time. It‘s just a guess, though. I think it‘s coincidence.

Yes, I think so too. In particular also because the audio in that original video is not quite the audio track
that was commonly played and featured on the CD at the time but sounds like an extended remix, rather.

Off at a tangent, but the video for Living On The Ceiling by Blancmange is very Dominion-esque.

Beyond the thematic and location similarity, the shot of the womans eyes is almost identical to Patricia's in Dominion.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised that director's take influence from eachother.
