Where does this expression come from please? I think I've only ever seen it on a shirt.

Thank you.

First saw it on badges sold on the early 1985 tour, but it may have been about before. Unfortunately, lost the badges ages ago during a house move…

Always thought it originally was Jesus Loves The Stooges. But I could be wrong...And Google tells me I'm not... https://stoogesforum.forumotion.com/f1- ... he-stooges

Isn't it etched into the runout groove on one of the early singles? Alice 12" IIRC

Edit to add: which ties in with "Jesus Loves The Stooges" because of 1969

Now this makes sense, especially after I found this thread - https://www.myheartland.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=894 which includes

"
Alice 12"
im westen nichts neues – jesus loves the sisters, mein irisch kind, wo weilest du?
for Spiggy (foreign field)

"

And googling "mein irisch kind, wo weilest du?" we come up with a line from The Wasteland which translates as my "Irish child, where are you?"

I always thought the person who did the mastering scratched in run off messages but this seems very close to Von. Did he master these?

( I am a bit bored at home with time on my hands, yes)

"Im Westen Nichts Neues" is the original German title for "All Quiet On The Western Front" by the way.

Yes I think they're "Porky Prime Cuts" but it seems very likely that Eldritch had input, given the content.

Cool. So as a phrase it's a Stooges stealing/inspired Eldritch-ism from the sounds of it. Probably.

I thank you.

Jesus Loves The Stooges is the name of the last track on the 1980 Iggy And The Stooges Album "I'm Sick Of You" . it's an odd one but its worth listening to all the way through -once at least- for the fabulous piano if nothing else.
