New music discoveries

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Delighted to see new music coming from perennial weirdo-rockers The Scaramanga Six (previously featuring Chris Catalyst of this parish)

Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

Just imagine what The Sisters could do with an actual bass player (really?) and an actual (gasp!) drummer.

Doktor Avalanche has been carrying the band for too long!
All my words are secondhand and useless in the face of this.

Everything by them is so great. Looking forward to seeing them in Hamburg in May. It’s been cancelled before and I hope it will actually take place this time.

Fawning
Graveface records did a freebie on bandcamp that will end at midnight tonight. I picked up the Velvet Gentlemen Album & this utterly gorgeous album from Fawning. If you like Cocteau Twins, you'll prolly love this
Cheers.

Seems they've been about a couple of years & their back catalogue (as per the youtubes) is none too shabby

They've had a few singles now & I've been following ever since Who's Got My Lighter?
Each time the songs are getting better & they have a brilliant sense of humour too
New single. The Ick

For the past few years I've been writing a (second) blog devoted to new music, but as it's mainly goth/post-punk it probably won't be of interest to TSOM fans ( - not entirely a tongue-in-cheek comment, as I know many here have very broad taste).

Certainly catchy with that bass riff at the beginning having a familiar tone! Overall it's like a grunge Throwing Muses.

The new album's out today &, for some reason that I'm pretty sure is an error, it's only $1 on bandcamp.
Can't really go wrong for a buck

This is a dreamlike fusion of simple but effective lyrics and music. Very dark, very political, and very pointed.
Honestly, past year or so, I've discovered so many incredible bands that I've began to realise that the best things in music are always happening right now.

I have heard them before but they were a most Excellent opening act for Ghost on Saturday. (Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats I could take or leave though.)

One of the discoveries of the year for me. Hey Calamity

This band has been a total revelation to me this year & the new album has just been released with a "name your price" tag ;) Even if you splash a couple of bucks on this you can't lose anything. It's absolutely stellar & it gives me goosebumps every time

Opening track wouldn't be out of place on Darklands.

Cheers.

I find myself just sitting in various Youtube channels themed around niche genres.

Untitled Burial is the one I go back to the most at the moment. Witch House and the surrounding genres is the order of the day. 90% of it is s**t, but when it hits the mark it is unholy.

I listen to a lot of ambient livestreams too, like CryoChamber, Iron Cthulu Apocalypse, and State Azure.
