Ever Forward....?

Between 1993 & the release of Under The Gun and Chris Catalyst leaving in 2018 we had only 11 new songs. reread that and consider - 25 years worth of creativity..

in the 3 years since Dylan joined we have heard already 9 new songs pderformed.

IF -& its a fucking big if- we are ever going to get anything new product-wise from The Sisters it has to be now,.surely.
and in a slightly more certain world where we aint getting zip...it still has to be now. Creatively the band are on fire....its time.

I think if you had Von in front of you and you asked him this question, he'd tell you 'you already have it'.

What's more important, a jewel case with artwork and a CD inside/a listing on the streaming services with a title etc, or the actual songs? Vision Thing had 8 songs. We've now had 9, and there are probably a few more to come.

So I think the 'new album' is out - it's been played live and is on youtube, and that's the primary medium of The Sisters of Mercy. What is an album anyway? A title and a running order, or the actual songs?

is it or is it Boyd Steemsons answerphone message saying "...at the third stroke it will be made Glorious Summer...beep ...beep...beep.."!
Last time i looked 98 was somewhere in the quarter century twixt UTG & Arms. so ok- Vondrew was on strike up to 98 so we should start there or we may have to include SSV:NSMABAAETWTWMODAA or whatever the f**k. (i feel justified in paraphhrasing there as the albujm has no f**king drum track.)

I think he’s just putting out a set list which compliments the limitations on his voice. Less words and slower tempo.

There was that interview where he stated that he favoured minimalist lyrics in any case but surely this tactic must also assist when touring?

You're totally right, protecting the voice, making the shows easier, less words, bit of energy to stave off boredom. No high notes in Flood II or VT screaming to shred the vocal cords. Everyone happy.

Yep, I reckon so. If only there were back catalogue songs that could serve that purpose...

Fix, Afterhours, Black Planet, even Bury Me Deep.could all do that job. Can't just add new ones and keep the TOTP setlist without losing bums on seats.

"Less words" isn't really a new thing. "Something Fast" and "I Was Wrong" were pretty foreshortened, and late 90s songs like "Will I Dream?" and "Suzanne" even more so

Even if it's his gig/protecting his voice, it's also meant a progress in his lyrics-wise - a brevity, which is an essence of poem, IMHO.

And here was me thinking the thread was about the sister ship to the Ever Given which has run aground in Chesapeake Bay.

What comparisons can be drawn with the Sisters' career?
