Happy Birthday Dave and I wish I'd told you about this really dinky brown cafe on Voorbergwal 191 ( you might know it already of course) but if you don't it's fab with fibre optics in the ceiling which change colour, so tourists like me sit there stoned, pointing and giggling inanely at the colour changes (like...good s**t maan ) .

Cheers everyone, 34 isn't that bad (I've decided), age is meaningless in Amsterdam anyway!
Had a wicked time in marvellous gaffs like De Kuil and De Dampkring, and The Cave, a truly evil alternative / V.heavy / death metal kinda bar. Most of you lot would've loved it! The mushrooms were rather wild as well - certainly there was NO chance of straying too far in the RLD with those things doing their stuff.
Karin - didn't see the fibre-optic bar, but the Buddha's Sisters (Dampkring) and vaporiser machine (De Kuil) had rendered my eyesight peripheral anyway. Sounds cool though. I'll keep an eye out next time!
You'd really want to live in the Netherlands. Trams run on time, airport staff are friendly and helpful, everyone smiles, and they appear to be at the top of the gene pool to boot.
Cheers again for the bday greets, hope you all enjoyed the KJ and Smurph gigs.
Dave
