Two thoughts after reading the band history page on Sisterswiki

This was an illuminating read and yes, I learned a few things. One point that struck me in particular was the first sentence of the 'Touring Through' section:
"The band fail to secure a new contract and refuse to release new material independently. According to rumours, Eldritch's starting negotiating position is $3 million USD for 3 albums."
This confirms what I have long suspected about the biggest mystery in the history of the band: why they stopped making records. It wasn't that they didn't want a new record deal: it was that they literally couldn't get one. What major label would trust them after they'd gone on strike against their previous label for several years and then broken their contract with the SSV dummy album? And of course, being , he wouldn't want to release anything on an independent label. And then, as time passed, I suppose that elusive major label deal must have just seemed less and less important: could stick to his stubborn guns and still make the band work financially (somehow).
As has been discussed here before, the technology to release an album directly to fans over the web has existed for years now, but naturally, that isn't acceptable either because it's still the 1980s and the Sisters are still a major label band in in 's head.
I was also interested in this note about Gary Marx's 'Nineteen Ninety Five And Nowhere' album ( famously failed to respond to the demoes):
"Eldritch commented this recently by noting that communications between the two about this effort had been conducted over a third person, rather than directly."
Where did he say this? In an interview somewhere?

Or he set the bar high enough that not getting a deal wasn't his fault.

A lot about these events is documented directly and first-hand via UTR ... ...
Unfortunately, the Heartland Forum Image Gallery, where all the editions were stored, is out of function ... ...
and also unfortunately, the sisterswiki is to this day not enhanced with a function to store PDFs... despite several requests ... ...
Re: Two thoughts after reading the band history page on Sisterswiki
BUT I cannot keep it there for ever ... some alternative link is clearly advised ... ...

Well, if he hadn't set that bar quite so high...

It's a lot to read. And maybe the Glasperlenspiel Fanzine has better info,
since... ... (memory setting in) ... UTR actually ended with the end of the relation to East/West
so, obviously, I was wrong about the info in UTR. Uh, sorry... ... still, there's a lot of interesting stuff to read in there ... ...

I notice nobody has argued with me about the first point above. Perhaps it isn't as controversial as I thought perhaps it might be !

IIRC, a record deal with MUTE was the last attempt that came to nothing because of some misdirected fax or so ...
and with the years The Sisters found that they can well tour without a major deal ... ...

Interview with Patrick from Front 242, where he comes to almost exactly the same conclusion for almost exactly the same reason: there's no money in records anymore, and the band found that they could be just as creative on-stage, including reworking old songs and writing new ones.

https://www.thesistersofmercy.com/gen/faqnorm/faqnorm.htm wrote:What happened to the 1991 truce with East West which involved Sisters records retaining WEA distribution in America (to satisfy Time Warner) and coming out via Mute (to satisfy the band - and Mute)?
We had to get away from Elektra, but we weren't allowed to move outside the Warner family. Mute was the only Warner-distributed label to have any interest in the band, and we liked them. We were getting on fine until the first Sisters/Mute record was due to come out.
Mute sent a fax to London, telling East West that East West's poor scheduling would damage the band in America. Nothing unusual (in our case) about the fax or its content. Unfortunately Mute sent a copy to Andrew, whereupon East West terminated the deal.
Since then the Sisters have had no representation in America. Having been on Elektra, we haven't really noticed the difference.
Re: Two thoughts after reading the band history page on Sisterswiki
I'd heard about the abortive Mute deal, but this jumped out at me. Is it sloppily worded, or does this imply that a record was finished, and then shelved?
I've never heard anyone talk about that, if so. I have to guess it's badly worded, because I can't believe a record would have been written, recorded, mixed etc and then never leaked, or even mentioned, again.
That seems very unlikely. Anyone know?
What does 'due to come out' mean?
