Echoes of some kind of stranger

Recently listened to Floyd's 'Echoes' off the 1971 Meddle album for the first time.
The vocal melody don't half sound like Some Kind of Stranger -- try singing along with it.
and I thought it was just Comfortably Numb.

On a related subject, check out Killdozer's "Knuckles The Dog (Who Helps People)" on their great "Uncompromising War On Art Under The Dictatorship Of The Proletariat" album. Nice SKOS-ripoff.

And Echoes precedes Loyd Webber's Phantom of The Opera score, can anyone say nicked ?

Floyd were booted out by the punks and remained taboo for a long time. I wonder if they would have got away with doing Comfortably Numb in the early 80s. Somehow, I don't think so.

Yet there amazing similarites relating to subject matter and "artschool theories" between Vision Thing and Roger Waters "Amused to Death" album first recorded in 1989.
Listen to "The Bravery of Being Out of Range" and compare it's lyrical content to Vision Thing and Doctor Jeep.
Floyd can still fill an arena and get a album deal.

Me too, and I bought it as well, though I always thought it was 3 sides too long. But none of the John Peel listeners I came to know would have admitted to buying it. And Eldritch and Marx were clearly John Peel listeners.
