When I saw The Cure there in 2008 I had pre show drinks in a bar called Heartland Brewery which was spitting distance from RCMH.
I still have a beer mat somewhere.
Sadly I think it closed in 2015.

It's been a few years since I've been in the Big Apple but if I remember rightly you couldn't get blackcurrant and they'd suggest cranberry juice! Needless to say I was appalled. But if some more funding were to come in I'd like to see if the city has become more civilised Guinness drinking wise. Oh and see the Sisters!

I'm kinda scandalised at how much I paid for this gig. Two tickets cost me 250 dollars. I don't think I've ever paid that much to see ANY act anywhere.

I hope it's a decent gig.

That's the one. I saw both shows but the RCMH one was epic. Especially getting Forever at the end

For drinking in that neck of the woods I've always liked McCoy's over on 9th (it's a dive where my granddad enjoyed a pint, as well as my dad when he worked in The City) or the Russian Vodka Room if you're feeling fancy.

Left NYC in 2017 and sadly can't make it back for this gig. Can't recommend RCMH enough, fantastic venue and I would love to see/hear the Sisters there.

If you want to pre-game at arguably the greatest dive bar in NYC, you can check out Jimmy's Corner, he's still there.

140 W 44th St (btwn Sixth and Seventh Avenues). It's then a six block walk up Sixth Ave to Radio City.

Checked Ticketmaster, almost the entire Orchestra section is still for sale(!)...and actually, so it the rest of the venue. A second row seat is $300, OUCH. Love the venue but wonder why they chose it this time around.

Looking at the ticketmaster pages for a great many (all) of these shows seems to suggest the same thing, apparently very few tickets sold. Whoever it was who said they should've played the bigger venues on last years 'comeback' tour may have had a point. I wonder if promoters saw decent sales last year and started seeing flashing dollar signs.

Anyway easily sorted, a quick digital release of one of their own recordings of On The Beach ought to generate a bit more interest. It's easy and convenient to presume Von doesn't give a flying hoohaa either way but I doubt any of them are looking forward to playing a load of predominantly empty halls and ampitheaters.

Love Jimmy's - a bar for people who want to drink. Alas, Jimmy fought his last bout in 2020, going 3 rounds with the up-and-coming young challenger Co Rona, resulting in a TKO.
The bar's still there, but without its cornerman. He's doubtless lacing up the gloves on scrappy young angels who'd be out stealing hubcaps without his influence.

Just checked the RCMH seat availability map. Holy cow, it is not looking good, and that's being generous. It's like at the Spinal Tap level. Especially for those of you who are traveling from far, I really hope that they can 1) do something to boost the sales, like extra promotion or selling discounted seats on StubHub, if that's even an option or 2) at least move the show to a smaller venue, if that's the only option to keep the tour going. Tours by bigger names have been getting cancelled recently, and I REALLY hope that this can somehow move forward!

Anyone at the Kings Theater show in Brooklyn last year? That's about 3,000 capacity, could you tell if it was full or close to it? Irving Plaza would have been sensible, that's maybe 1500 and they've played there before.

I went and it was pretty jam packed, but I was in the pit near the front, so i'm not sure how the rest of the venue looked but it did take me a while to leave. A bit of a personal anecdote, but I talked to someone who went to the NY show too and when I said it was great they kinda chuckled in a "yeah right" kind of way. So for the non chronically online sisters fans like myself who knew what I was getting into, I suspect some people felt Von's voice wasn't up to snuff and spread bad word of mouth in places such as facebook and their ilk.

I hope this tour isn't a total bust for them I don't think I can wait another decade+ for them to come back :urff: :urff: :urff:

So is this show sold out? It looks like I won't be able to go, so I have two tickets I'll probably have to shift.

Looking at Ticketmaster, it seems to be sold out.

Far from it if i understands things correctly... Looking at it's more like 30-40% of the tickets sold.

That's being extremely generous. Row A in Orchestra 3 section is completely unsold...! Those tix and the first so many rows in the up front Orchestra sections are $300 which is insane. Then as you get to the middle of the Orchestra sections it's "only" $182. I don't know wtf they were thinking. If I were them I'd pull the plug and move the gig to Irving Plaza, Webster Hall, Hammerstein or any smaller venue with a GA section.

Interesting, Ticketmaster appeared to show me it was sold out earlier, but those links tell a different story.

Okay. So if I can sell them, I'll do that. If I can't, I'll give them to someone on the day.
