Plausible Deniability

I was gonna post this in the closure topic but got a bit carried away, so I thought I'd start a new topic.
I think that Von would make a good politician. He seems to have mastered the game of "plausible deniability." Despite being the nucleus of the band, Von has continually distanced himself from any of the factors the are (supposedly) preventing the release of new material.
My hazy recollection:
1995- 1997 - We can't release anything because the morons at the record company are trying to starve us into submission for their own short-term goals. [Okay, fair enough. We accept it’s the record company's fault, we're looking forward to those independent singles]
1998? - Adam is moving house (or was it building a studio?), things are on hold until that's done. [It's Adam that's causing the delay]
1999? - Change of plan, we are working on an album, inter alia, but the matter of single releases is currently on hold.
2000? - Can't seem to negotiate USA distribution [record company's fault]
2001 - We've spoken to major record companies, they all seem supportive, until financial backing is discussed. [It's the record company's fault]
2002 - Chris is compiling a DVD [so if that never sees the light of day, It'll be Chris' fault]
2003 - We keep presenting material, record companies keep knocking it back [record company's fault]
Interviewer: How about using the internet?
Von: "Adam won't let us use his material for promo purposes" [Adam's fault, Nice catch-22, should buy a few more years]
Does anyone really beleive all this? Did I miss any of the excuses? Is the order correct?
Mabye we can start a poll "what has been your favourite excuse for no studio output?"
Maybe a competition, who can predict the next excuse and its scapegoat?

From reading the above - the path forward is obvious - release singles / albums as an 'independent' and sack Adam!
Knew You'd Be Upset!

I remember AE saying a few years ago, that if he was going to do it again (ie the whole album and singles thing) then he wanted to do it properly. And that means flipping great wadges of cash for promotion up front. It always has to be up front, they won't play a gig until they've been paid. So the record companies refuse to put up the finance, and AE refuses to compromise. Result = nada.

Maybe Von's financial situation is so good, that he feels no need to release anything more.

How did I miss this one, Harry? Yes, I'd be happy to spank Von on behalf of every fan who is waiting for the next issue.

James despite the blame thing AFAIK it was Von who had a studio built in the basement of his house in Kirkstall
Apparently, you can hear the rehearsals from outside

Great! Someone get over there with a tape recorder. We can have ourselves a nice 'live demos' album

Someone tell me whereabouts in Kirkstall. I live just 5 minutes away.
*Edit to add* He doesn't still live at that address on the Reptile House lyric sheet does he? Or does he?

mrs qb was talking to a woman she works with last week and they happened to start talking about 80s bands. she mentioned to her mate that i was quite enamoured of the sisters and her mate proclaimed "andrew eldritch! my dad's a builder and recently refitted his house and studio!"

There may be a heated exchange of words first though.
Just out of interest (and boredom) anyone know if he uses Eldritch all the time, or does he still sign all his cheques etc Taylor? Just wondering. Maybe the DSS could still be after him!

If the former is the case, then I would be surprised if the latter were also, as it's a pokey one/ two bedroomed back-to-back on the edge of dodge city.

LOL
Keep us all informed
Strangely enough I was asking a work colleague who's a native Leeds lass about Kirkstall, not much in the way of info 'cept there's nice & not so nice bits.

I would have said the address on the Reptile House lyric sheet was in Burley, rather than Kirkstall. Burley is right next to Woodhouse (dodge city) which is mainly populated by students, asians and the disposessed. It does have a very fine Muslim mosque though. And the Hyde Park Picture House. And The Royal Park pub. And Maumoniat's International Foodstores. And a skateboard park. Burley, on the other hand, has bugger all of interest.

I think every city in the UK has areas like that Thrash, some good points, some bad points. Same goes for people. Race, creed and colour is no longer an issue to us 'enlightened' citizens of Earth.
