No contest. Some kind of stranger. The end of the end.
Go to sleep now, Francis.

I too have voted for other. I find none of the above depressing, merely emotionally draining yet weirdly exillarating.
I'd vote for 'More' - due to it's horrendous over production and over long monotiny.

"marian" depresses me, but mainly because its a tedious plodding drone of a track.
no songs really depress me - my mood is only ever uplifted by good music
and "driven..." is way too groovy to be called depressing!

some kind of stranger, though i have to run away and blub when emma comes on.
I don't wanna live like I don't mind
None of the above - Bury Me Deep is the one.
On the original tape I made of the 84 onwards stuff, I followed Bury Me Deep with Emma, and it is DAMN effective.

If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.
I agree that Bury me deep is depressing, but for all the wrong reasons. If I was listening to the Sisters for the first time and I heard this song I would think it was the worst kind of dodgy goth toss.mh wrote:None of the above - Bury Me Deep is the one.

Sorry if this offends anyone.

I agree, I find the original just too "bouncy".emilystrange wrote:well i suppose so - i find it too bland .. its AE's voice that does it for me.Quiff Boy wrote:i suppose the original version of emma is quite emotionally draining - errol really lets loose and gives it his all... he means it, maaaan

nope. it's a nice tune with a great baritone vocal and some lovely fiddly led zepp geetar bits, but its very nearly goff nonsense of the highest orderzaltys7 wrote:I agree that Bury me deep is depressing, but for all the wrong reasons. i must take issue with the bouncyness of "driven..." though! its a superb track and benefits from a decent groovy bassline!

sorry Quiff, I didnt mean Driven.. I meant Emma. The hot chocolate version is just to upbeat for such a sad song.Quiff Boy wrote:nope. it's a nice tune with a great baritone vocal and some lovely fiddly led zepp geetar bits, but its very nearly goff nonsense of the highest orderzaltys7 wrote:I agree that Bury me deep is depressing, but for all the wrong reasons. Hmmm, I have to say I agree about Bury Me Deep. I love the song, but it is really ridiculous. Honestly, I really, really like it, but I only listen to it about once every two years. It's not that I'm embarrassed to like it...but... it's not the kind of song you'd play on desert island discs, is it?

I too like it very much. Odd thing is that I listened to it a great deal one summer when I'd got myself my first car and to me that song, together with Blood Money, is so strongly associated with summer mornings, sun through the blinds, cool shades beneath green trees and the euphoric freedom that only a car can provide, that it makes me very, very happy every time I listen to it. I can actually feel the summer breeze just by listening to it.MrChris wrote:Hmmm, I have to say I agree about Bury Me Deep. I love the song, but it is really ridiculous. "Nine While Nine" in the Other choice...been there in that situation a good few times too so it is one that can induce me to total melancholy if I'm in that frame of mind......

Favourite memory of a Sisters track is first morning on Corfu, watching the sun come up, my Brixton Briefcase blasting out Bury Me Deep to a deserted beach while I was in an 'altered state'...... spins me back down the years, bliss. :D:D
