'Though ostensibly a song about the Transatlantic relationship of Von and Patsy, Lucretia can in fact be read as a song about the broader "special relationship" between Britain and the United States'. Discuss in the context of the current war on terror.

Oooh... I'm trying to wean myself off this lyric stuff, no good comes of it...

You've got a good point there, but I can't help thinking if it was on this theme it would not be quite so triumphant & approving in tone.

Would you care to enlarge?

I think most of the triumphant and approving bits are 'we'-stuff. We got the empire, as opposed to: empire down, once a railroad and so on. But I don't know. It is friday. I'm outta here.

I'd like to expand on this, but I can't quite put my finger on it at the moment. But still, the thought keeps recurring in my head.
