Not according to the cryptozoologist Richard Freeman, on

There you can see something that comes rather close to a striped dog, however, with the emphasis on "dog".

Hmm. That article has made me think it's about dog psychology.
The reason they don't have stripes is that rather than hiding in the grass waiting to pounce (e.g. lions), or trying not to be pounced upon by lions (e.g. zebra), dogs like to circle visibly in grassy areas, do a huge pile of crap and then flick it around with their feet, ostentatiously. Being camouflaged would hinder the "I AM HAVING A SH!T" show.
On that basis, the Girt Dog was clealy not a dog.

Striped Hyena
The striped hyena is the only hyena species found in Asia. This is the least vocal of the hyenas and usually produces sounds only when it is fighting or soothing its young.

Well put. Couldn't agree more. Thankfully ours is knockin on heavens door, probably as we speak. She'll be happier in the big kennel in the sky, and so will I.
By the way SG, that's some job you got - looking after f****d up druggies all night. Barrel o' laughs, I'm sure. We occasionally get em in with 'growths' on their heart valves and no end of evil communicable diseases- which is ace cos we get to wear spaceman costumes while we operate. Every cloud...
But yeah, dogs are carp.

Dogs are gross. They eat their own s**t, lick their own bollocks and are then allowd to lick their owners face. Gross.
