We don't eat cats, right? And generally, we don't eat dogs, either.
Which got me thinking. Are there any carnivorous mammals which humans eat? Chicken, sheep, dear, horse (mmm, hmmm), cow etc are all herbivores.
Yet we do eat carnivorous fish and reptiles.

How is bear typically served?
Polar bear carpaccio sounds deliciously decadent.

Yeah, I was thinking it's a mammal, but it's not.... but how about whale and dolphin? They're not fish... do people eat them? I'm pretty sure they do whales...

Only barbaric tribes, like the Norwegians, do, and generally not carnivorous species. I'd love to see the opening of a restaurant serving dolphin meat, however. Well, not so much the place itself as the reactions to it. It'd probably give the infernal snowball a run for the money.MAtT wrote:Yeah, I was thinking it's a mammal, but it's not.... but how about whale and dolphin? They're not fish... do people eat them? Nothing ventured, nothing lost
Here's a few recipes if anyone is thinking of doing so...

Apparantly dolphin meat is passed off for whale meat in japan quite a lot, but contains toxins that could be harmful to humans.

A long time ago in a galaxy far,far away called DDR dog-meat was very famous in some regions- because they got no cows or pigs but a lot of dogs.
And remember: there were no supermarkets..
Thank´s to the "Real existierenden Sozialimus"
I can´t tell if they suffered any damage from the fried dogs

They are omnivorous, just like us, so they do indeed eat meat, any kind of meat, they aren't fussy about it.MAtT wrote:And in "Snatch"...Johnny Boy wrote:Pigs! They're carnivorous.

Actually, as a curiosity, cats don't and won't eat pig or pork. If you feed your cat with chicken or turkey, they'll happily eat it, but even if they're hungry they won't touch pork meat. Interesting.

Besides pigs, we eat dogs, cats (you didn't really think that rabbit they served you in the restaurant was really rabbit, did you?), dolphins, rats, etc.Clucking Belle wrote: Which got me thinking. Are there any carnivorous mammals which humans eat?

And those are just carnivourous mammals, don't get me started with reptiles, insects and so much more.
Have you ever tried snail with cow brains?
Or pigs feet with cow tongue?
Or smoked pork blood sausage with cow tail?
Yum

Just for the record, I have never tasted whale. But we have it in stores, yes.
