I know there is another forum set up by soem people here but this one seems to get more traffic....

How much is the "An Ideal For Living" 7 inch worth (Mint)? I held one in my hands today but the guy wanted ZAR 2000.00 for it. Which is roughly how much I'm planning on spending when I go see NMA (return flights included).

It's a bit too sexpensive for my tastes, but I was wondering if the price is about right.

An Ideal For Living 7" (June 1978)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7" Enigma PSS139

Warsaw
No love lost
Leaders of men
Failures

Note: Recorded at Pennine Sound Studios, Oldham, December 1977.
Released as a 7" single (1,000 copies) in a 14"x14" foldout sleeve, on Joy Division's own Enigma label in June 1978 (Enigma PSS139), after they discovered that another label already was called Enigma, they changed it to Anonymous Records, and released "An Ideal For Living" as a 12" single (1,200 copies) in September or October 1978 (Anonymous ANON1).

AN IDEAL FOR LIVING

(7") PSS139 Enigma 1978
(12") ANON1 Anonymous Records 1978

Tracks: 1. Warsaw 3. Leaders of men
2. No love lost 4. Failures (of the modern man)

Recorded session (2).

During June 1978 the band self-issued 5000 copies of the EP in the form of a 7" which came with a special folding sleeve and a terrible sound quality, on their own Enigma label. (Must not be confused with the US Enigma that has released stuff by bands like Devo and Flaming Lips).
The 12" was released in 1200 copies in October 1978 on Anonymous which also was run by Joy Division. This time the sound quality had improved very much.

Any 12" without scaffolds on the cover is a bootleg. This will hopefully prevent people from buying bootlegs. There is a 12", without scaffolds on the cover, which is said to be a "Limited edition - collectors item": It's just a bluff.
i'm from oldham ;)

no idea of its value though, sorry :(

Or I could just pop down the road and pick it up for you.
