Sisters in Leeds - 5 or 6 Oct 1982?

Hi, could any wise one tell me the truth - did Sisters played in Leeds on the 5th October of 1982 (as the official gigography http://www.thesistersofmercy.com/gen/gigog/gigog.htm claims) or the next day as some honourable traders tend to believe :?:
Thanks in advance for your help :notworthy:

I've no idea, but I'd go with the trainspotters. You could never believe a word Eldritch said.

It's history, does it matter?

Um, how do we know from a post in a forum what particular version pikkrong (or anyone) has ?

Anyway, Christer addresses the two dates, but does not offer any evidence. He had this note on his website, with the 5th being his date of preference:

Kiss the Carpet / Floorshow / Anaconda / Alice / Watch / 1969 / Sister Ray

This particular recording is often listed as being from York, 6 October 1982, but I believe the date used here is correct.

@ pikkrong: you beat me to the question!

Well, as I said to Petseri in a pm yesterday, since I got the tape in 1985/86 and for the next few years, I always saw Leeds listed as the 6th. Until I see something in print like a gig advertisement I'm not gonna change my mind just cos someone else says it's the 5th. (and I certainly wouldn't take the gig list on the official site as proof, they don't even list the first American dates at all!)

Anyone have a press cutting that gives the correct date?

-----

I'm also unsure of the correct info for the 4.5.81 and 7.5.81 gigs. One is Leeds and one is York, but which? And to make matters worse, is Leeds the 5 min one or the 15 min one. I've probably seen all combinations of these.

When I first got these 2 gigs in 1985/86 they were labelled as follows-

4.5.81 - 1st gig, York (2 songs)
7.5.81 - 2nd gig, Leeds (5 songs)

Until the 10th Anniversary gigs, everyone assumed that the recordings were of the 1st and 2nd gigs as thats how they were traded. If the official list doesn't have any missing then we now know them to be the 4th and 5th gigs.

The official site has them the other way round (Leeds first, then York), but as they don't even list the first U.S. tour I'm guessing that list was assembled from peoples trade lists and not from Eldritch's old diaries.

Other traders lists have Leeds as the earlier gig.
BUT, a little look around a few peoples lists show that some list the shorter gig as the earlier one, and some the longer one (and some list Gimme Gimme Gimme as one of the songs performed. NO NO NO, that's not from either of those gigs.)

I've changed the info around for these so many times based on the flimsiest of evidence that I no longer have a clue what's the correct info on these.

Again, a press cutting would be most helpful if anything so early exists.

You should be able to find this by trawling through 'Clad in Black' Indrek. I'll have a look in the next week.

The "official" gigography does say:
This list is as complete as hazy recollection and half-baked research will allow. We're still correcting it (slowly).

Wasn't it the concert with the appearance of John Langford on Bass ?
(I'm talking about the 5.2. Leeds Gig)
