Height

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Because he surrounds himself with short-arses.

He is a self-proclaimed "skinny bastard" so he looks proportionately taller with no other height references next to him???

It's all about camera angles and, as Petseri suggests, no suitable height references in sight. Mel Gibson is only 5'6"--remember how surprised you were when you first heard that?

Hmmm...thinking back, AE never stood next to anyone in Dominion or Lucretia (apart from Patsy at the end, when he looked like a short-arse), and much of the time, the camera looked up at him from below. And the camera is usually either very close up, or far away, so it's difficult to get a suitable height reference.

And he's such a skinny b*stard. He'd look a lot shorter if he were as wide as he is tall. :von:

How in the world would he have gotten cast opposite Sigourney Weaver? 1.80 cm or 5' 11" (according to http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000244/bio)

Gibson is listed as 179 or 5' 10 1/2". (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000154/bio)

You know, it's like some twisted joke that most ultra-hawt men are also ultra-short-arsed. Luckily, I'm only 5'4", so all men are taller than I am, apart from the ones who are sitting down.

Well, I'm not the tallest. Not sure if I'm ultra-hawt, though

Personally I do like a tall woman, mind. Petite is all well and good, but there's a lot of it about. A touch of the Amazonian warrior is always distinctive :D

In the vid Von looks tall for all the reasons mentioned above plus the cuban heels on his non-goth pointy boots.

Mel Gibson is 5'10" because they measured the box he was standing on as well.

Well, based upon the illusory camera shots, Ioriginally thought Von was 6 ft. tall. It was one rude awakening when I found out he was short.

Now he's bald...what next?

Nice to know Mel Gibson is of a decent height.

As a 6 foot something person myself, there is a hell of a lot to be said for being of the vertically challenged persuasion. Like not bumping your head all the time, not having to constantly duck so you don't bump your head all the time, not constantly crashing your knees into every protruding object, being able to fit in crappy small seats on public transport, not having to spend a small fortune on larger beds so your back won't hurt in the morning, not getting a sore neck from being smoochy with the GF, etc.

I say - leave short-arses alone!!!
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I'm also a 6 foot something person, although the something is quite small. But I'd echo your point, mh, about beds - I sleep in a rather unusual way (***MrChris reveals sleeping secrets schock***). Namely, lying flat on my (thankfully flat) stomach, face to the right, no pillows, arms by my sides, legs together, and (this is the difficult bit) feet hanging out of the end of the bed. I can deal with the cold. What I CAN'T deal with is beds with footboards of any description, or bars, or any other contraption of despair. Honestly, you try sleeping with the inside of your ankles resting on solid pine for a night, see how well you sleep.

Rant over. The message, kids, is that if you're considering it, there are pros and cons to being tall. The pros are that you will probably earn more and attract more women (though I have to say I have scored badly on both counts). The cons are related to those difficult head/bump and foot/bed nexi.

I'm listening to Ribbons live again. God, the sound of armageddon is impressive.

OK, first up I accept I may be unusual. Although I am above average height for a UK female I always end up drawn to smaller men. That is, when I don't know how tall someone is & like them on the telly or whatever, they always turn out to be small.

Another thing I hate is perfect teeth. I know that sounds really stupid. But whenever I see glowing white even gnashers it puts me off. My own teeth are ok but a wee bit crooked & I like them that way.

I know there is a big cultural difference here between the UK & US- but I always think of big white glowing ones as American teeth. Braces have caught on here now so no doubt there will soon be no difference. And it's not like I like Shane McGowan or something. Moderation in all things.

Hehehe - my parents were too poor to outfit us kids with braces (plus our idiot dentist told my parents that we really didn't need them... Bullsh*t!), so I still have an overbite, which I *loathe*, and some teeth that overlap. I'm thinking of getting myself some braces someday, but I'm terrified by the thought of having to have teeth yanked out in order to do so...

I respect your opinion, mh, but I wouldn't trade *my* height for anything. I put up with a mind-boggling amount of crap throughout my school years because of my height; the abuse got so bad at one point, that I considered dropping out of school (I was an advanced-placement honors student) and suicide. 20 years later, I've finally come to terms with the fact that some people are simply going to be put off by my height, for whatever reason, and that it's *their* problem, not mine. I do resent the fact that everything everywhere seems tailor-made for midgets (sorry, folks!), but I'd still rather be me than someone of "normal" height. I like standing out from the crowd, being able to reach things that short-arses can't, being able to see over people's heads at shows, etc. Average is BORNG, imho. :P By the way, I'm 6'1". :von:
