Sisters Convention

I was wondering - has there ever been a Sisters of Mercy fan convention, either unnoficial or approved by Von?
By 'convention' I mean a collection of grubby tables full of Overpriced Sisters tat being sold by men who've never showered in their lives, in an obscure town hall?
kinda like a record fair or a Star Wars convention, but attended by 150 goths and unhip social retards (is there a difference?) clutching Asda carrier bags full of Sisters Bootlegs.
If not, why don't we arrange one? We could all descend on some pre-arranged, central location - Quiff boy's house, perhaps - and spend a happy weekend drinking cider n black and discussing the new album and the minutae of Von's sunglasses collection.
Then into the back garden for a three-hour set by the Sisters of Murphy.
Our excitement could be stoked by a wild rumour of a former Sisters guitarist being in attendance, in disguise ("Psst... it's the odd fella by the mantlepiece, with the handlebar noustache!")
We could even devise some goth games to play ('hide and Scare', perhaps, or 'Pass the pentagram')
I'm getting quite excited now. I for one would LOVE to attend something like this.
EDIT: I've just noticed the number of this post. that's got to be an omen, good or bad...

I went to an unofficial one, must have been around 1988 I think, at the Electric Ballroom (of course).
Highlight of the day was the Patricia lookalike competition being won by a bloke who looked like Simon from the Cure. The Andrew lookalike entrants were a poor showing, sadly, looking more like George Michael in most cases...

A Ex Girlfriend of Mine when to that "Convention" in the Electirc Ballroom - it was held in Early 89 AFAIK - There were a few pictures from it and a report in a issue in either "Spiral Scratch / Siren" a couple of months later.
I may even have the cuttings somewhere about the place in the "Archive"

The highlight of the mini tour was the "official" merciful release phone showing up
I'd love to know if that big bloke with the Black October vest was still around

I have a fan!
However, I won't be winning any
lookalike competitions these days without losing a few pounds
and getting a haircut.
And maybe breaking my nose

I remember that being mentioned in Sounds or Melody Maker at the time.
Saying the closest thing they could get to the Sisters was the phone from the Mericful Release office and rightly taking the p*ss.
Round to Quiffy's in the summer then?
Maybe to inspect a small piece of gaffer taken from the stage at Wembley Arena.

As well as London there was a Sisters convention in Leeds. 19.3.89.
It was crap. Just the same as a record fair but with a higher proportion of Sisters stuff. I read reviews of the London one which sounded better cos they had a lookalike competition and the winner of the Patricia lookalike was a man!
