Having never met any of you people, I was wondering what you all sounded like?
I'm talking about:
* Accents and dialects
* Do you talk fast, or slow?
* Do you mumble? or could you get a job doing TV advert voiceovers?
* Do you say 'right', 'erm' 'innit' or 'd'yer know what I mean?' a lot?
* Do you stammer? or talk with a lisp?
* Is your voice as high pitched as a little girl's, or as deep as Satan with a sore throat?
The thing is, whenever I read your posts, I always hear your 'voices' in my head (I'm making myself sound like a right nutter!), and I'd hate to be hearing 'voices' that are totally different to how you really sound.
If you know what I mean.
I'll get the ball rolling:
I have a very harsh, deep, sharp voice; my accent is a mixture of Scouse and Lancastrian. I talk slowly, and I say "Erm" before EVERYTHING I say.
Help me out here, people

I've got a really annoying voice. Kind of nasal and a little whiney. I hate it.

i think it would be far more interesting (and potentially amusing) for you to describe what we all sound like in your mind....Black Shuck wrote:The thing is, whenever I read your posts, I always hear your 'voices' in my head (I'm making myself sound like a right nutter!), and I'd hate to be hearing 'voices' that are totally different to how you really sound.

Erm..dunno, I probably talk way too much and it's usually about nothing at all! I'd say a bit too deep for a girl, and I only have an accent sometimes for some strange reason!

accent: somewhere between manc/oldham (lancashire-ish) & deepest yorkshire depending on how pi$$ed i am or how much "comic effect" i am trying to express
pitch: higher than i'd like, but not squeeky. it will suffice.
speed: dunno, i guess it usually pretty fast. but not manic, unless i'm pi$$ed or nervous.
no speech impediments, but i tend to say "erm" a lot when nervous and tend to chuckle/laugh quiet a bit (sorry, you aren't actually that funny - its just a habit i have). also, due to my dodgy sinuses i can sometimes sound a little nasal
that help?

As I recall, your voice seemed to suit you just fine. Oh yes, and I used to have a very pronounced lisp, but I had speech therapy for a few months when I was about seven. I didn't mind at the time, cos it got me out of doing country dancing in the playground. I used to sneak back early and enjoy watching my mates being forced to make fools of themselves in public.emilystrange wrote:i'm not sure i have an accent, although i do pick them up very quickly if i speak to someone who does.

Anyone else got a microphone hooked up to their puter? We could all record ourselves...
Actually, I'm not entirely sure that's a good idea

New and improved in fact. He's not anti-aliased any more, so he doesn't have a load of pale blobs around him against a dark background.Thrash Harry wrote:Aaaah! He's back! (Your avatar, that is. I get the full effect at home).

I used to look like that. Before I put on two stone after giving up smoking for 6 months. My dodgy back's never forgiven me for it.Sexygoth wrote:Have you had him on a diet Mark? He looks a bit skinny there

Hmmm. I have an accent yes, I am from Norway. But I like to think I speak alittle better than the usual norwegian. (had american friends growing up) I have actually had countless people thinking I am from the U.K. On the net, who heard me talk. No comment on my spelling, we talked, we did not write down what we had to say
I think it is slightly low, not high pitched. I tend to talk a little low, I have a hole in my eardrum so my hearing on one ear is a little bad. And I think maybe I hear my self louder then, thats why I talk low. I always get complaints about that. And on top of it I am shy, shy people do not scream.
In a normal tempo. Hmmm, I actually say "yay" alot. He he. And "sort of"
No stammer, no lisp. Oh and "awwwwwwwwww" I say that way too much... for some reason.
I might sound like Mimi Parker, the singer in "Low" when she talks.
