Pay Pal - Advice Needed

Greetings and Salutations My Fellow "Heartlanders" :-)

I am thinking of opening a "Pay Pal" account. This is to be used exclusively for "Ebay" in particular the purchase of "Red Dwarf" vhs videos.

The advice I seek is your own personal experiences of using "Pay Pal" - apart from anything to do with Ebay. I know that some people here use this service and I have noticed both good and bad posts about its use.

Is "Pay Pal" safe, secure, reliable and would YOU reccomend it?

Any advice - good or bad - would be great - thanks in advance.

Andy TG :-)

I have had a paypal account for a long time now. It is safe and secure and facilitates e-bay purchases. Which is nice. I have my checking account there, but don't use it to pay ppl. I usually charge it to my credit card so if something happens I can phone the card company.

I would recommend you open an account if the intent is to pay for e-bay stuff because most sellers want to be paid that way. Oh and it's also free! :)

Hey Andy,

Been using it for almost a year now. Works for me. I use it to pay for my (mostly Sisters) purchases on Ebay. No problems so far for me. I use it to charge my credit card as well. And as BP mentioned... it's free.....

Cheers,

Paul

No problem with Paypal yet! Been using it for 2 or 3 years or so. It's very useful.

Also, if you use ZoneAlarm Firewall you can protect your Ebay password as well. Don't really know how that works, but you may as well use it!

Just make sure you don't give them your credit card number.

I use PayPal all the time for eBay and occasionally to send money non-eBay, and have never had a problem. However, I have been weary to link a bank account ('confirm' account I think they call it).

Just to play Devil's Advocate (after all I am Quazi Evil) check out this link for another opinion:

My 0.02: I've used paypal for ages; I even paid for my interweb hosting and domain name with it. Never had a problem.

However, they are a regular target of "spoof" e-mails such as viruses and dodgy geezers trying to rip off your credit card. If you ever get an e-mail (seemingly) from them asking to confirm card details etc. be very careful! I'd advise logging on to their website to do any dealings with them, rather than using e-mail.

yep, like what he said. ;)

paypal never send you emails saying "your account will deactivated unless you confirm your details on our shonky looking immitation website"! :urff:

always go direct to paypal.com and log in to do anything :)
