I find myself strangely drawn to the Masters coverage on BBC. Do I have to wait until it's over before taking part in the forum again ?

And why is no-one shouting 'you da man' or 'get in the hole, ball'

There's nothing wrong with golf as such, but I've never understood it's appeal as a spectator sport. Kinda like darts, and snooker...

Irrelevant, I know, but thinking about golf brings up warm memories of my whippersnaper days when I'd earn extra pocket money by creeping round golf courses (hiding behind bushes etc.) and nicking people's balls off them, then selling them to me local sports shop, who apparently had a thriving trade in second-hand golf balls.

At least you can see the balls in snooker and you've got to admire darts players for making a living out of spending all day in a pub without ever having to pull a pint.

@ RS: Rugby league is a bit like rugby union, only with skill and finesse as well as brute force and curiously homo-erotic rituals. You must have seen it on TV sometimes, as two slate-grey towns from the M62 corridor do battle on a patch of mud in the midst of a torrential blizzard. What were you specifically worried about?

He's the same guy. He writes his "normal" stuff (if anything like the Wasp Factory can ever be described as normal ) as Iain Banks and sci-fi as Iain M Banks.

@ ES (and also off-topic because I can't find the original one) - Was also at sunny hunny on Saturday. Didn't spot a HL dress but mind you never went near the dunes as it was a family outing.
