Dear Doktor: The inherent pointlessness of existence

Dear Doktor
Since I went away for a couple of weeks, I've slipped gently out of the top-20 posters.
In fact, no-one even seems to have noticed that I have been away.
Chelsea have had an utterly shocking fortnight.
Work is incredibly tedious.
On the other hand, it's a nice sunny day, for a change, I'm in the middle of an excellent book (Dave Eggers, You shall know our velocity), and my baby is still adorable.
The question is, do I need one beer tonight, or more? Can someone out there help? I don't need saving from the sea, but this is still an important question.
