Just browsing through soulseek and ive found a user with this file:

"Sisters of mercy- Dr jeep(studio live in london - beat UK (on stage) 1991.02.tv.mpg"

is it the truth? any good? etc etc :?

I've no record of them performing Dr Jeep on any tv show ever, so as long as it's not the promo video or some cruddy camcorder-at-a-concert video then it's worth getting.

Oh, and as far as I know there never was a tv show called "beat uk", unless it was a regional thing (or a foreign show, seeing as the second half of feb92 was spent in Europe).

Download the first few mb, then while it's downloading copy the file to a new location, then you can play what you have so far. That saves you having to download the whole thing if it's fake.

Aren't all the promo videos on the "Shot" Video/DVD? Surely people have no excuse not to have the promos in good quality?

UPDATE

i saw aproximately 2 seconds of this file before the user 'darkgreen' banned me even though i have plently of files (bastard)

its a joke, though im not sure. It must be some kind of sketch because the first 2 seconds involve what looks like people dressed like the band (vision thing era) and a strangely nice man saying 'hi, we are the sisters of mercy'

i dont know what to think...

Not all of them. Body And Soul, Walk Away, No Time To Cry and Black Planet have never had official releases. Looking at them, it's probably a good thing. Although Black Planet is pretty good.

Actually 'No time To Cry' has at least had some sort of official release. I remember back in the 80s I found it on one on those music compilation things in a video hire shop in Morley, from which I copied it...

I'm doing a web search for Beat UK, as I've never heard of the show. Apparently it's a Japanese TV show. www.beatuk.com
It started broadcasting in 1990 on Fuji TV so it could be the one.

Have you watched any of the All About Eve clip yet, does it look like it's from Japanese TV. (clue- Japanese music shows almost always have the lyrics subtitled at the bottom of the screen (not translated though), so for an English song it'd have the lyrics subtitled in English.)

according to the information..it was shown in 15 other countries apart from japan. it was originally called 'hit studio' aswell

'The Beat' was a TV programe around 1994 late at night on ITV and was presented by Gary Crowley. THe highlight thoug was 4 weeks in a row they showed 2 or 3 tracks from CNN (Later XC-NN) live at the Town and Country club (now called the Kentish town forum).

I have quite a bit of this show on tape

Matt

The Forum is the T&C? Well slap me sideways, you learn something every day. Many people will probably think me particularly dense for not knowing that, but there you go...

THe Forum in Kentish town was indeed Called the Town and Country Club.

The T&C2 (where the cure did their 5 imaginary boys gig) is now called the Garage (in islington)

Matt

PS another thing Ive noticed on sisters collectors lists, they call Brixton Academy (Formally Brixton Sundown) Brixton ACE, this is wrong The Ace is Not the same place!!!!
