Download Festival

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

It's just over a week to the Very Metal Download Festival. Get in. :notworthy: 8) :D

Anybody else going? Steve303 if I remember rightly. Where are ya?

Let us know if you're off, anyone, and we can meet up for beer, mind expansion, and Very Loud Metal.

Twas ever thus.

Didn't Metallica play the Download Festival a year or 2 ago? I wonder if they appreciated the irony.

Would absolutely love to go as there are a lot of acts on i fancy, but sadly at large festivals only the top few acts see the ticket money so even if i didnt go on their day id be giving Metallica my money so i wont go.... and i really would love to see 75% of the acts this year!!!

I am going on the Saturday to see the Stooges . Wouldn't mind seeing the Distillers too . Most of it is pure dross though .

Soz Dave - couldn't get the time off work. Would have been nice to meet up for a pint or 12. Enjoy yourself anyway. The camping should be fun.

Thought about the Glasgow dates - I'd love to see The Stooges - but in the
end I just wasn't into enough of the other bands to justify the ticket price.
Hopefully Iggy and the Ashton brothers will do some club dates.

Passed on The Doors of the 21st Century for similar reasons i.e. there are far cheaper Doors tribute acts - sorry Ray, Robbie and Ian!

Quiet dammit, JB. The hospital administrators may be reading this. And I've NO idea what happened to that expensive machine I'm supposed to operate when they pop round.

Steve303 - never mind mate, I'll let you know how cool it is / was. Assuming I've got a clue.

Biggy - it's not dross (well, some of it is) - Sunday is SO the better day - MachineHead, Slayer, Slipknot (dubious but entertaining) and the Mighty Money-Grabbing Metallica. But yeah, The Stooges should be marvellous, as should Monster Magnet. I've not heard a single note by most of the bands, but you can easily reckon on 50% of it being ace. Stella & J for breakfast should see to that. Anyway, I'll be wandering round (weather permitting) with my 'going-out' mohican, Sisters Exxile white long sleeve, unfeasibly dilated pupils and a big grin, probably singing Jolene. If you witness such an event, come say hi.

Padster - Admirable principles mate, but you shouldn't let that get in the way of a monstrous weekend. You could always go watch Him (snigger), or more likely - The Suicide Girls, instead of 'tallica. AND lap up the other 75% of quality line-up.

After 3 now...

Always, Red. Particularly when surrounded by the sea of black that is Metallica's fanbase. Always helps to stand out. Though the diabolically off-key Jolene should see to that, regardless.

Just have to ignore the mud / food stains. ;D 8)
