Aye fine result. Not a great performance but who cares.
For the second England game running I've got my first scorer & score bet right too!!! 45-1 this time. 135-1 for France game. I'll be able to fund the next Sisters record at this rate! :D

Typical pathetic response from a bitter Scotsman

The fact is, England are the GREATEST TEAM IN THE WORLD. and today they gave a GREAT PERFORMANCE.

Here's hoping Owen gets dropped and deported back to Liverpool.

Phew !

In spite of the earaly afternoon heat, i dont thiink they played fantastically, but when all is said and done they got the points and found their way. Rooney is looking stronber and stronger too.

Onto the Croatia.

and now.....England (dare i say we, seeing as it is OUR country) have to really win on Monday, seeing as the Croats got a draw against the french....

ok a draw will do, but a win...would be v. nice.

btw.....

why is it okay for a scot to say "hate english" on this board - but we english are not allowed to show pride in our own country???

and in the utmost respect to our fellow H'landers, for the record.....
I do not like the French, Scottish or irish. There...i've said it, its not racisim, it is political correctness in its correct form. A scot can say it without recrimination, as can the irish, therefore so can I.
Who gives a f*** wot the french think anyway.

I'm done.

Smoke me a kipper, i may not be back for breakfast......

.... Cool?

Most Scots would never even think that. Now point me at a serious example of it on HL.

I wouldn't say racist, inflammatory? Yes!

Anyone who honestly hates someone else based on their nationality is an idiot.

Good result, and good to see Stevie G knocking one in.

But in fairness:

1. The English lack grace on the pitch and in victory;

2. Rooney is chavscum.

What sort of example does this set the kids?

I choose France

ROOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYY!

1. See post above.

2. The more you build the boy up, the further he will fall as all English players inevitably do following their desperate lauding by fans ardent for even more desperate glory.

3. To shamelessly paraphrase another Owen.

Hmmm, I also predicted the result as 3-0. But I would say that now, wouldn't I? I think most people agree the France performance was better, but it was still competent, and Rooney may be scaring defences into the latter stages of the competition, who knows? By traditional English standards, this counts as a good start to a major competition.

The English do seem to be in a unique position where they're required to soak up abuse from people from other countries without a murmur but it's free for all when anyone else wants to have a go at them. It's political correctness gone mad fuelled by white, middle class guilt.
I work with a lot of Austrailians at times, and many are so blatantly anti- English , without a trace of humour and affection it's not even funny.

So it was tongue in cheek, and it was about the England Football Team not the English people!

And before this one gets out of hand, I now realise this was a reference to a Spitting Image song and presumably, therefore, made in jest.

Doh!
