I have a vague memory of some article that appeared in the tabloids back in 84/85 regarding the Sisters, some Jewellery and the Freemasons....

Now being a bit of an old git, memory is rather faded, can anyone shed any light on this? I think it was along the lines of:-

"Sisters personnel (Hussey??) wearing some jewellery that belonged to the Freemasons, and they wanted it back/were annoyed about its association with the band..."

Any cuttings kids? any ideas? or was it all a dream.....?

Snakebelts.

As well as inventing the 'bouncing bomb', Barnes Wallis invented the snakebelt . His whole theory of kinetics and elasticity came from the snakebelt. The three stripes on the belt, he later utilised as the three spot lights converging together on the water to syncronise and land those bombs. True.

Moving back on topic....

Don't recall such an article or seeing any form of Masonic symbolism in any of the photographs from 84/85.
Jewellery, such as Masonic rings, is fairly easy to come by, and I'm not
sure it would cause that much offence - the wearing of a ring no more makes you a Freemason than standing in a garage makes you a car!
Without the numerous signs, secrets, grips and words, you're chances
of passing yourself off as a Mason are pretty limited, but I digress.

The only thing I can think of, assuming the story is true, is a Past Master's Jewel. Such jewels are presented to the outgoing Master of the Lodge. Families tend to return them to the Lodge on the owner's death, as they really are not much use to anyone else.
Of course, depending on age and craftsmanship, some of these can have a certain value.

Now, this just goes to show why you shouldn't leap to conclusions when reading the title of these threads. I thought it was going to be in some way about my diminutive playmate emilystrange.

According to a VERY silly dog-eared paperback in my possession the Freemasons are answerable for Jack the Ripper's crimes & the 'suspicious' death of Mozart. Seems a little unkind to hold the poor buggers responsible for That Guitarist's admittedly execrable taste in jewellery as well!
