NEW YORK (Billboard) - New York Dolls bassist Arthur Kane died Tuesday night
in Los Angeles due to complications from leukemia, the pioneering '70s glam
rock group's manager told Billboard.com. Kane was 55.

The reunited Dolls were fresh off a well-received appearance at Morrissey's
Meltdown Festival in London last month and had also opened some of
Morrissey's concerts in May in New York. It is unclear if the David
Johansen-led group will still perform next month at Little Steven's
International Underground Garage Festival in New York.

The Dolls are scheduled to release an album for Morrissey's Attack imprint
in September, but no details have been revealed. Johansen is understood to
be in Paris and is preparing a statement on the group's future.

Kane is the fourth member of the Dolls to pass away, including guitarist
Johnny Thunders, who died of a drug overdose in 1991.

There were only 5 of them to start with, weren't there? I guess they've had a few line-up changes then.

truely sad that the NYD are slowly leaving behind their addictions and debauchery...

they truely were the most outrageous band of their time...may they continue to rock the other side.

Well he didn't play the Manchester Move thing anyway. He'd been quite ill for some time by all accounts.

Yeah and I seriously regret ever giving you that Nylon Pylon CD. First time you went to see them they got dropped by their label, but no you carried on liking them until they split up.

oh I mean my, um, friend, did. I am of course somebody completely different.

How come Debaser's jinx hasn't worked on those perennial tourers Puressence?

The Icelandic metallers would have been better if they'd brought their chuffin' snake along! :(

What's a chuffin' snake? Sounds incredibly rude to me, that.

She did once cause Jimmy Puressence's appendix to burst hours before a gig simply by booking herself a hotel for the night, I guess he got off lightly...

Maybe that's why they didn't bring it, besides the surprisingly ugly gurning bass player in the leopard print shirt was entertainment enough

I'm glad she never made it to that Godhead gig in Nottingham.

BTW F--kwit, say hi to our mutual friend

It's OK, I've stopped pretending not to be me now. It was getting confusing.
