Chez vous?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

it's my little haven, my "sanctuary" as it was dubbed over there. its where i seem to spend too much time of an evening, and where i am sat right now.

i've shown you mine, now you show me yours! 8)

You've had the cleaners in, haven't you? Pam's banned from my haven.

Much the same but the pinctu's white, world map on the wall with Italy coloured in. British Isles map behind me (just as a reminder) and a Sinatra calendar next to it. An overflow of CDs, DVDs and bills encompass the HP Laserjet 3150 printer/ copier/ fax/ scanner. Was once a home office. Now just home.

And if any of you good people can convince me that a once state-of-the-art PC with 4xCD-writer can actually copy a CD reliably, I'll be glad to join in the weeding. :innocent:

but dont you get static or interference from the flight sim area in your studio monitor mixes though?

surely, at the very least, you would get a quite serious "reflection" of sound, resulting in a poorly balanced final mix?? ;) :innocent:

One: I use active speakers, thus reducing interference to almost nil on a -4dB scale.

Second of all, the flightsim comp and the midi-editing comp have two totally independent stream cables. One is sponsored by Electrabel, the other by Nuon. Don't you like the whole 'privatising' thing? (except for railways, peeps!).

You didn't answer his question about "reflection". ;)

I also see your monitor speakers are positioned horizontally on top of the mixing desk.

Read this:

http://www.genelec.com/support/faq/faq21.php
Secondly, horizontally orientated monitors positioned on the meter-bridges of mixing desks may look nice but acoustically it is not a good idea for the following reasons:

Mounting the monitor vertically increases the distance and angle of the off-axis reflection from the console surface. This reduces the comb filtering caused by the reflection, as the reflected sound level will be lower in level.
