We have really hot weather here today.

Great, after weeks with rain, but not very funny when you have to work! :(

With the title of this thread and the scandinavian connection I naturally assumed this was going to a discussion on 'artistic' adult films. :innocent:

there's a bloody rainstorm happening, the likes of which haven't been seen since JB arrived here

Remember we don't bother with things like central heating and double glazing, it's just not worth it. A few bar and oil gill heaters usually do the trick.

60 mm of rain in a night is quite a lot, isn't it?

It's not normal. A couple of days ago some town near Oxford had 6 inches of rain in an hour. The BBC Newsnight studio was flooded and I've seen pics of Kensington High Street at 2pm with the water 4 inches deep. And the sun still shining. The thud of the hooves from Death, War, Pestilence and Famine echo throughout the planet. Mother Earth is on her knees. :|

Nothing like a bit of melodrama eh JB?

Mother Earth is a tough old bitch; she'll survive.

Whether we do or not is a different matter...

Help my out on this one Mark. It was touched upon in the James Herbert novel 'Portent'. Is it the GAIA principle? Something along the lines that Mother Earth is actually a living, breathing organism capable of thought and action? Or have I OD'd on the lentils again?

I've not read "Portent"; I gave up on James Herbert after The Ghosts Of Sleath when I worked out the "twist" after about 3 chapters

However, yeah, that's a pretty fair description of the Gaia concept.

Come spend a winter here, and when it gets minus 25, like it does, see what freezes off

It has been pretty hot here too. I dont know if I am that happy about it. But soon the autumn is here. 8)

Just got back from a trip with the family to an outdoor swimmingpool area.

I could only last one hour, then I went home. The sun and the heat made me dissy. 29C in the air and 25C in the water.

I need a cold beer now.

Going down to my office now instead.
