Have any Von anecdotes? What has he said/done that made you laugh? Let's leave his clothes out of this though, as there's enough fodder there to merit its own thread

Saw an American interview (t.v.) once where the interviewer mentioned Ofra Haza. Andrews eyebrow shot up:

Interviewer- "Ah, the eyebrow goes up.

:von: - "That's not the only thing."

Gent, 16.5.91 (at the end of the gig after the last song) "...even you. All the ugly people in the balcony. All the SERIOUSLY UGLY people in the balcony. All the ugliest people I've even SEEN in the balcony. Yes Yes Yes YES YES YES YES."

my fave von quotes:
Someone has to grow up stupid and flip burgers for everybody else. It says so in the Bible.

Spiggy was my cat at the time the band started. He was named after a character in 'Private Eye' magazine who was an entertaining amalgam of rock'n'roll stereotypes. Spiggy's gone to the great lig in the sky.

We did, however, once turn down an offer of ?200,000 (very approximately $300,000) to headline some g*** fest in Whitby. Go figure.

People who buy bootlegs are primarily interested in hunting the stuff down; they don't seem nearly so excited about things which are readily available. Some even turn their noses up at the genuine article and they are in any event a tiny minority.

What's your favourite colour?
British Racing Green. This is stretching my patience.

And the colour of your eyes?
A very dirty green. There, that really was boring, wasn't it?

[of martin gore] We need more perverts in the Top Twenty

[of the millenium] Andrew would like to say that he didn't realise the band had been going two thousand years, but thanks for the party. The fifth album really will be out very soon. Please send the money to A Eldritch (Presidente), Carcassonne, South Kent, United States of Europe, Terra Prime.

I had moved to Leeds to learn Chinese, and I was living above the chemist (as the Mekons put it) with Claire and Spiggy The Cat.

PS: Sorry, flower children, but we're a lot more concerned with human and civil rights than the purity of your muesli or the quality of your lawn. First things first, and no apologies.

MTV Post Modern - November 1991

Presenter Pip Dann comments on the 'pyramids' in the Dominion vid, to which Von responds:

"Yeah, you'll find the pyramids look remarkably like camels. That's because they are in fact camels, and not pyramids."

As far as Eldritch witticisms go, my fave would have to be a quote I read in one of the music rags when I lived in the UK. Eldo was quoted saying:

"I am the only person in the history of rock to go on the road for reasons other than getting laid."

Radio person(I've forgotten who) having just played Je T'aime on one of those favourite record type programmes:

So how do you think it stands up today?

AE: Most rigidly.
