Places to eat in the Sheffield area .... Quiffy?

Since West Ham are playing at Bramall Lane on Saturday I find myself making another trip into relatively unfamiliar territory with the Hammerette in tow.

Since I'm boycotting motorway services on the grounds of sheer hatefulness, recommendations for wholesome post-match fare would be good. Proximity to M1, or routes leading to my spiritual concrete home would be a bonus.

Can't believe I'm going to have to watch Paul Thirlwell in action without needing to haraunge the useless tosser every time he goes near the ball. Neutrality is a wonderful thing, but he is hopeless.

To be filed adjacent to motorway service stations. :urff:

I was hoping for food. Y'know, stuff that, like, tastes of stuff. Ideally served in attractive surroundings with no unflattering strip lighting.

Does this happen in the Sth Yorks/Notts/Derbys area? If I can do it in Staffs surely I can do it anywhere?

i dunno about post-match fair but on match days i usually get to sheffield an hour or so early and go to the blue moon cafe (next to the cathedral in the center) for a spot of lunch... its a veggie/vegan co-operative cafe and its ace 8)

its been a few years since i've lived in sheffield, and when i did it was as a student so i was too skint to eat out (or even eat int!)...

sorry :(

lucky b**ger. wish i could go but there's a family do (rellie's birthday party) i need to head over to manc-land for

Yep - Ecclesall road has plenty of places, there's a few places on division/west street that are ok, but for sheer fabness, i'd recomend pepe's - sort of opposite-ish the side of john lewis (the slopey road going from division street to the moor.

OK folks, thanks for that. I'm feeling a bit more optimistic now.

Could I say there's plenty of food for thought?

Thought not

Paddy will meet you for lunch in the Classic Rock bar, if you ask him.
