Bing Eldritch

The following interesting factule may already be well-known to those in the know, but I just had a 'now fancy that!' moment while listening to the radio...

For some reason they just played a bit of Bing Crosby's Brother, Can You Spare A Dime...

They words run thus:

"Once I built a railroad
I made it run
Made it race against time.
Once I built a railroad
Now it's done
Brother, can you spare a dime?"

As I say: Now fancy that!!!! :notworthy: ;D Another piece of the Lucretia jigsaw falls into place. Sort of...

yeah but a lot of what they suggest is such ar£e ;)

they're guilty of some real 6th form analysis and rarely come up with conclusion that anything he writes is coincidence or accident - they analise things to death

anyone care to tell me about the 52 daughters? ;)

Simply a passing of time. 52? 52 weeks in a year. Daugther? Female off-spring of Old Father Time. Revolution? From new year to year end. A passing of time. :innocent:

Just when I began thinking that the "1959 and all that" webmaster must have too much spare time on his hands (and this is not an oblique reference to any historic, tragic figure with blood on his hands) I notice how sparse the 1959 website's overall content is. Fill in the blanks, please webmaster (and this is not an oblique reference to Russian roulette). Thanks!

I have always thought that Eldritch's lyrics have been over analyzed. After all, much of his lyrics are inspired (stolen) from other lyrics and poems.

Well, that's true, but the official story is that these thefts act as hyperlinks to whole new layers of meaning, and show that the meaning is wider and deeper than we thought. They set up resonances for those who can identify them, that tell us something more. At least, that's what Von's PR told me.

Or perhaps Mr. goth simply chose deliberately arcane lyrics to make himself sound all deep and intellectual.

Bet he never realised, though, that two decades later, people would still be sleuthing about trying to decipher every last line of his songs.

I haven't had the time to do it properly yet, but the minute I saw the original picture...

All I have done is a wee bit of editing to the sky and mirrored it so the fat one is on the left. There is a lot more still to do...
