NME "GOTH" Magazine

Hi,
Picked this up in HMV yesterday, and is proving to be an interesting read. Artsy picture of Fat Bob on the front...red andblack, you know the score.
It wanders from 1976 - 1992 and covers the larger got acts with gig, album and single reviews and interviews from the time re-printed. Main offenders in it are;
Joy Division
Siouxsie
The Cure
The Sisters
Fields
All About Eve
The Mish
Worth a punt if anyone can find a copy.... at least for the pre and early 80s reviewers with the lack of our hindsight. 140 pages.... go grab it!
IM NOT A GOTH
Paddy.

Well, I enjoyed it in a memory lane kind of way. It's interesting to read the old interviews and take a view on which bands now look like tw*ts and which don't. Fat Bob really seems like a pointless, self-obsessed waffling nob who happened to write good tunes, looking back. Siouxsie and the Cocteaus are not as clever as they think they are. Eldritch is almost as clever as he thinks he is, and that's scary. I rate it well worth my bluey.

Got looked at on the train for laughing out loud at some of Eldritch's amusing interview banter. And SG is right about the photo's of Mr McCoy ...........

The very same thing happened to me on the Glasgow to London train the other day (furtively purchased the magazine in Smiths beforehand) but it was only my mum. My chuckles were inaudible to the rest of the carriage, because of some little bastard noisy kids.
Having read it though, I have to say the 'journalism' was pretty shocking. About as objective and rooted in reality as a party political broadcast. Really poor. I understand why Von hates them now. Some smokin' pictures of him though.

If you have any difficulty finding it let me know and I will see if I can pick up a copy and send it on to you.
(Our local Borders store had dozens of them when I went in a few days ago...)

I lost my patience on the introduction, where we were informed that the bands featured had influenced, amongst others...
DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL!
That's right, the 'emo' whinge-merchants to beat all others.
Kill me now, please.

its not the regular issue - its a glossy magazine "special" (costs about 6 quid)
the "borders" in leeds have loads of copies in, so i would imagine most borders stores will

Goth as defined in that magazine? Forget the genre for a moment... Sisters, Siouxsie, Cult (aaah, the holy trinity
)... what influence did they have on f**king EMO?
The Cure I can see, whinge-wise, but
still!
