Sometimes I'm interested in knowing who wrote/performed a song originally if I suspect a song I hear is a cover. Does anyone know any big database internet site where I can find such information?

and also....
the reviews for each song are pretty comprehensive, check out th elisting for "Enter the Sisters"
this is Anaconda:
The clicking pattern that opens the Sisters of Mercy's fourth single is familiar from any number of period drum machines, but familiarity is simply the hook that draws the unsuspecting listener into the web. "Anaconda" is a furious composition, an examination of the crushing snare of drugs, the lengths their victims will go to in order to feed their habits, and the uncaring fate that awaits at the end of the tunnel: "The anaconda will not see the suicide." The chorus is the song's strongest element, rising out of the otherwise near-monotone construction with an impassioned rage — "she will she will she will blow away." But the craftily constructed guitar lines and the sense of shrieking that echoes behind the instrumental break shroud the entire performance in a mystery as thick as the band's onstage smokescreen. The song rose effortlessly into the Top Five of the U.K. Independent chart, confirming the Sisters' rapid ascendancy.
Good eh??? don't you just wanna shag me now?????
