The Dark Side

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I notice the sisters of mercy - temple of love is on the dark side compilation. I wonder who decides to give these things permission, it seems strange to me that Eldritch would let one of his songs be on a compilation called ' The Dark side'

I think that part of the deal for SGWBM (or possibly the end of the deal with eastwest) involved Eldritch handing over rights for the early songs.

I may be wrong though; it could just be a case of him thinking "Fuck it, I may as well get a bit of cash from the dodgy darklings while I can."

*checks his CD* I must be thinking of a different CD. The double CD compilation I've got, Dark Side Of The 80s contains This Corrosion (shortened version) on CD1 and Dominion/Mother Russia (just called Dominion on the reverse) on CD2.

Don't tell me Andy submitted his songs to TWO darkling compilations?

Next thing you know, he'll be talking to us, and using the word "goth".

Yup! I've also seen "The Dark Side - Alternative Anthems" advertised.
I think it features TOL 92.

Possibly no tour this year = dodgy compilation.

A friend of mine has a compilation called "Darkness" with Black Planet (or was it any other FALAA song?) on it. Can't say when this complilation has been released, as far as I know he bought it at least 4 years ago.

Usually when band leaves a label the label gets to keep the rights to the recordings. Happens to almost everyone.

TOL 92 is on this one which was bought for Mrs Fiend.

Not by me, and as a joke, I hasten to add. :urff:

Yeah, those were basically the responses the feckin thing elicited from us. One of Mrs Fiend's work "friends" bought it to take the piss. :|

It's a damn fine song, and worthy of a place on any compilation. Even Mozart's Greatest Piano Works.
