With VOIP soon to be legal here I was wondering if anybody makes use of this product? Also do you have any experience with skype out, before I go and give them my credit card details?

Perhaps I'm missing something but isn't this a free of charge service?

skype out enables you to dial normal phones, and they charge you for that. PC to PC calls are free

It works great! I just called my brother who lives on the Isle of Jersey and had a chat with his wife for 10 minutes, and it cost me 19 Euro cents.
Take that Telkom!!!!!

The sound can be bad and echoey, it depends how good your soundcard is I guess, and use headphones or you'll likely get feedback.
About 6 months ago a friend bought some credit and there were 4 or 5 of us on a party line making prank calls to the USA. It seems cheaper to call the USA with skype than it is to make a local call!

I got my trusty old SB Live! and a set of
these. The quality seemed fine!

Here's a prank call some friends made with skype. It's a bit silly, but it makes me laugh.

Quite .. I have to share this with you - I was organising another ADSL account yesterday, which was actually booked last Thursday, so phoned them and tried to do my best impersonation of the MD, ya know! Cos they've been dragging their heels something terrible with the username and password stuff. So the chick (Mandy) says to me, "WOuld you hold the line, while I get Sandra (her colleague) to give me the username etc and I'll just give it to you over the phone, because our fax machine is f u c k e d up" ....
All I said in reply, after nearly falling off my chair laughing was "These calls are recorded for quality purposes."
Telkom are the pits and I'm definitely trying out this Skype thingie soon.

Usual turn around time for me issuing ADSL accounts is about 30 minutes, if I like you you get it during the same phone call you request it.

I've done a lot of VoIP research and Skype is my tool of choice.
