This will go down like a lead balloon...

just wondered if anyone was going to see the Charlatans at Salford uni on the 19th or 20th December?

I'm only asking because I'll be there, since I'm helping out in the running of the venue on both nights. I could probably wrangle a free ticket or two, if anyone's interested.

I'm a non secret completely blatant in fact indie kid, and I wouldn't p*ss on the Charlies if they were on fire.

No way dude! I'll see you in there!
Hope yu won't get freaked out if I come over and say hi.

BTW a bit of trivia - it's the first time the venues been used for a gig since the Fall played there in '87.

Oh, and the band are bringing 100 guests down witht hem, so I'm hoping there'll be a few minor celebs in the crowd (Terry Christian, Tony Wilson, people like that.)

for identification reasons, I've stuck me ugly mug as me avatar for a bit.
(thouggh I don't look like a psycho in real life).
adios

didn't see you i'm afraid :(

i was with a mate from work, and we were stood near the back on the right hand side (if you were facing the stage) of the mixing desk.

good gig wasn't it? i was quite surprised by how many songs i recognised. very groovy... and as much as i suspect mr burgess is actually a complete c*ck in real life, he makes a great frontman 8) :notworthy:

all in all that was a more than respectable way to spend a sunday evening 8)

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond, QB - I've been away from me PC for about 3 weeks.

I too was surprised how good it was - And I also seemed to recognise about two thirds of their songs! scary.

Shame the bar was THE SKANKIEST, MOST RIP-OFF-EST BAR IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE.

Oh, and I actually met Tim Burgess, when he arrived for his soundcheck (As i said, I was helping out with the gig - setting up the rigging, that sort of thing.)

our conversation went-

Tim: Alright.
BS: Yo.
Tim: d'yer know where the changing rooms are?
Bs: Yeah mate, they're down there. (points)
Tim: Ta.
BS: Don't drink the tap water!
Tim: (laughs)

riveting stuff, eh? but he seemed like a nice fella, and he invited me to his backstage aftershow party (I didn't go, though).
