Hi,

is it right, that the a.m. vinyl has the ROGI 'for spiggy and alan vega' AND in addition a machine written matrix number including writing 'ALSDORF' ? :?:

I have 2 12"s and 1 7" of this
Lets have a look :

1st 12" A side - (Thin Sleeve)

MRO - 29(T) - A1 (small writing)
ARUN
MT (I think!)

1st 12" B Side -

For Spiggy + Alan Vega
MR0 - 29(T) - AA 1 (small writing)
MT

2nd 12" A Side - (Thick Sleeve)

MR0 - 29(T) - A2 (large writing)
Bc

2nd 12 B Side -

MR0 - 29(T) - B2 (large writing)
HESHM (I think, this is really faint)
Bc

7" A Side -

MR - 029 - A (small writing)
MT

7" B Side -

MR - 029 - B (small writing)
For Spiggy And Alan Vega
MT

I think that the first one is an original pressing, the second one and the 7" are both re-issues. On the first 12" the "and' in For Spiggy And Alan Vega is written on the vinyl as a "+", on the 7" it is written as "And".

Looks as though you may have a German copy, some of my German Sisters records have Alsdorf etched on them.

Anytime a ROGI has R/S Alsdorf... it's a German pressing ... R/S stands for Record Service which is the name of the pressing plant. ;D

CellThree are both the thin and thick sleeves envelope sleeves ?

Envelope sleeves? Not sure I know what you mean. If you mean can you see the edges of the folds then you can on the Thin sleeve and not on the Thick sleeve.

That's what I meant, yes :) ... original pressing (ARUN A1 etc...) in an envelope sleeve exists in thin and thick cardboard so I was slightly confused ... Does the A2 have a bar code on the labels ?

Both of mine have bar codes. The number is :

22924 93620.

It is smaller and heavier print on the thin sleeve.

Also below the MR029T tag above the barcode the barcode number is printed in the blue print on the Thick sleeve, but isn't there on the thin sleeve.

That is a mispressing, like the Alice 7" with the white and gold cover.

so of similar value?

and what of my reptile house EP. artwork and labels, which actually plays Alice?

I dunno about the value. I paid 15 quid for my Alice 7", and I saw one of the misprint B&S go for about 25 quid about a month ago on Ebay.

No idea on The Reptile House. Nice item to have found!

OK, think I have raised the question incorrectly .
I know that the version I have described is a A2 pressing. The point is that A2 pressings may have the A1 sayings as well (e.g. the Reptile House A1 and A2 have the same ones), but in that cases the complete inscriptions (including matrix no.) are scribed. The vinyl I have mentioned shows a mix of machine written and scribed inscription. By 'original pressing' I meant the original state of the LP and not the 1st pressing (sorry for that faux pas) as I assume that this 12" is a fake and the saying 'for spiggy + alan vega' has been added ex post.

Regarding the different 'and' between 7" & 12" I think that the 'AND' on the 7" does not characterise any re-issue. My 7" A1 shows the 'AND' as well. Mostly there are differences between 7" & 12".

It's not a fake as I mentioned above, if the ROGI reads: (and I've checked my copy as I replied yesterday from memory)

R/S ALSDORF 249362-0 B ... FOR SPIGGY + ALAN VEGA (on the B-side)

then it's a German pressing ... the labels also mentions the track times ( as with all German copies), the UK copies don't ...

I think QB is about to move this to the 'Of The Boring Kind' section :innocent:

As I posted some time ago:
Dark wrote:*gets out his Body And Soul* Hmm... All of the ROGIs on it are.. (going anti-clockwise)

A Side- MR0-29T-A1 ; ARUN ; DAMONT ; MT; And uber-faintly around the very edge of the run-off, theres a 2 and 3.

B Side- For Spiggy + Alan Vega ; what looks like "A/T" ; MR0-29 (T)-AA-1 ; another very faint 2 ; and an almost invisibly faint DAMONT.
That's just mine, a rerelease I picked up in a record shop whilst looking for Long Train. I also noticed a March Violets LP and the CNT LP They Shall Not Pass there. Nice shop.

Hey Dork, you seem to have a bit of an obsession about the Long Train flexi-disc. Well, seeing as mine has been laid even less than I had been at your age, I'll do you a deal. Produce four original tracks and it's yours. Rock on.

Many points:

1) Dark, not dork. -_-
2) Yes, I have an obsession. It's cheaper than heroin.
3) Four original tracks with my band? Sure, why not. You'll be holding onto the flexi for a while, we rarely get together often enough. But okay. ;)

Would these tracks include demos? Or just the final products? And if so, do b-sides count?

You're getting a bit technical now.
