I quit for 12 months, then started again for about 6 months, been quit for nearly 2 years now bar the odd fag when I'm out drinking (not very often at all). Only thing I did to quit was keep a packet of fags unopened on the side and refused to open them. Worked a treat.
Only problem with quitting is the reaquantance with you taste buds and the pleasure of being able to taste stuff again. Enter the extra 15 pounds...

Quitting smoking is easy. I do it just before I go to sleep every night.
Obviously it's the staying quit while awake bit that's hard.

quiting is EASY !!!
I smoke's for almost 6½ years, and just quited by never buying a new package.
Just like that, no stress, bad tempers or other extra quiting things.
I did gain a extra 12 kilo's but within 7 months those are gona also !
Hope you have the power to say no

i started smoking at secondary school...just to be one of the guys...
i've smoked lots of different brands and some more well known ones
but i never smoked a lot...
i did stop for about 6 years ( i think i was on around 10 to 15 a day)...then started again about 4 years ago...and i now smoke 4 or 5 a day...i smoke because i enjoy it...not because i need it...nor because it's a craving...chocolate is the only craving i get (around 11:00 am)...i sometimes choose not to smoke for a couple of days...then i'll go out to see some local band in the local fleapit and i can finish a vending 16 pack in about 4 hours...beer, ciggie, loud music, good company...no sex tho as i smell like a drowned ashtray
*shrugs*...i can't see the point in stopping now...i really enjoy sitting outside my work in the cold and rain having a ciggie on my tea breaks...it kinda breaks the day up nicely!

I started smoking pure of a boring vacation.
My dad wanted to go to Germany (nothing wrong with that) but he made a reservation in a small town 10 km up Winterberg with ONLY OLD PEOPLE ABOVE 65 years of age.
My sisters and I started smoking pure to stay alive and not kill our selfs instead of being borred to death.
I smoked for about 6½ yaers, and just quited becouse my need to smoke was instant gone.
I don't know how that was and is possible.
I do miss it some time's, but i'm never gonna start again !!!

whats not to get...i enjoy smoking a ciggie...i hate cigars and pipes...i don't have a ciggie after every meal...and if i'm in non smoking company i won't smoke...
i don't smoke outside just to be considerate...i smoke outside because i can't smoke in work due to the fire hazard...
am i just being difficult?...trying to be individual?...different?...
i doubt it...i smoke purely to enjoy the sensation...and i'm fully aware of the dangers to my health...but i'm not intrested in my health...i'm intrested in enjoying the bad things in life...
