Instrumental beauty or aimless filler?
Discuss.

and I thought this was going to be a word-by-word dissection of the lyrics.

It has it's place, but shouldn't have been a b-side to Anaconda, something with vocals would've been much better. It sits fine on Alice 12" though.

i blame the parents.
actually, i blame this song for the nephilim's dumb-ass leone/morricone fixation. it gave them a blueprint for their awful dawnrazor singles...

instrumental beauty... it should be played as an intro on live gigs, or in a medley.

Phantom itself with vocals would've been much better too, but it's ok without.

I'd blame that fixation more on Theatre of Hate, a band who at the time probably had a bit more influence than TSOM.

Perfect pre-show music, in extended extended version.
But yeah, you hear it and you wanna put on a pancho and a beat-up hat and walk off into the desert night...

A song I rarely listen to anymore, but I wouldn't say it was bad

Well unless I am very much mistaken I recall buying Power as a single, and that was on the origianl dawnrazor lp, as was Preacher Man......
it was not all harmonica's and flour............

Neither of those was on the original LP .... CD reissue though, yeah.
Back on topic, I wonder if any lyrics were ever written for Phantom...

well, there are the lyrics on Gary Marx's version - don't know if they were "original" lyrics re-added or added by Mr Marx for his new version. (They seem to be the Floorshow lyrics combined with stuff about Saigon)
Actually,
Mr Marx's new version (the Starsky & Hutch mix ) is far superior to the original in my humble opinion

Like the cowgoth vibe (see a chick in Glasgow with her jeans tucked into her cowboy boots, it's not gonna be anyone else
), but Avalanche is pants on it and it's too repetetive.
To pull it back off-topic again, I got Dawnrazor last summer, "sounds like the Sisters... alright then!", but Jesus it's bad.

Out of curiosity: what style of (cowboy)boots do you wear ?
