I was looking thorough a very old thread and there was mention of the Sisters and Mute. I have heard this several times but I've never heard the full story. Can anyone elaborate?
Thanks.

isnt there something on the official sisters site about it?
i seem to remember an interview or FAQ or whatever on the site where they talk about the mute thing falling through at the last stage due to mute sending a fax to eldritch without telling wea? thus wea had a hissy fit and stopped the deal...
very odd

We had to get away from Elektra, but we weren't allowed to move outside the Warner family. Mute was the only Warner-distributed label to have any interest in the band, and we liked them. We were getting on fine until the first Sisters/Mute record was due to come out.
Mute sent a fax to London, telling East West that East West's poor scheduling would damage the band in America. Nothing unusual (in our case) about the fax or its content. Unfortunately Mute sent a copy to Andrew, whereupon East West terminated the deal.
Since then the Sisters have had no representation in America. Having been on Elektra, we haven't really noticed the difference.

The one thing I know on this subject is that the Mute symbol is present on the back inlay of the US SGWBM CD ...

Thanks everyone
Turns out I did know that.... its been a long while since I looked at that website though, like forgeting bits of a novel you read once.
Shame isnt it. The Sisters would have looked good with Mute. Many fine stablemates and a fine reputation.
