Mysterious Von

I would say for myself that Von is a mystery to us all.Not as open to fans like Hussey.
We all know so little about him, which makes him so intriguing.
If Von decided to open up to his fans and wrote on HL everyday would you start to lose interest in
I respect
for keeping his privacy. The mystery I believe keeps us all interested in
A complex character,I guess his childhood years were deprived of love and affection?

You're perhaps making an assumption that we
are all interested in Von.
Personally, I love the music he made under The Sisters of Mercy banner (and The Sisterhood), but am frankly somewhat bemused (and faintly amused) by the the hero worship, devotion, psychoanalysis (and lusting) that the man invokes round these parts.

Yes, you're right about the over-analysing, it doesn't make much sense, and, the music is a thing much more important to me too... Still I think he's a quite intriguing figure indeed, the mystery stuff and all that, and perhaps all that crap make the sisters even more interesting, and lead to giving more attention the music. It kinda gets more interesting with the mystique, perhaps...

Glad to hear your not lusting after him!!
I wouldn't thought many folks are lusting after him because they all have a life outside The Sisters!
I really admire the fans who travel all over europe for gigs and festivals to see The Sisters. That's some dedication that Von should appreciate!
Hope all the fans on here that are going to the festivals have a great time.

I'll have me one of those!
As for Andrew Eldritch...is he really that mysterious? You compared him to That Guitarist, who - for example - you would not be surprised to find rolling in the gutter singing a rude song about hedgehogs. Come on.
The interviews he conducted throughout the life of the Sisters so far has been insightful, illuminating, educational, and entertaining. It's refreshing to find an artist that isn't using his successful band to parade his personality.
He likes cats, Germany, Anarcho-Syndicalism, and Pere Ubu. Is that any less informative than the average livejournal bio? In summation, he's no more mysterious than anyone else, nor is he as flagrant as anyone else.
Feel free to disagree.

That's about as accurate as it goes.

Mmm. Eldritch, as defined by dictionary.com is
Strange or unearthly; eerie. Then, consider his reply to this comment...
Melody Maker, March 1985 wrote:
"...a man associated with the doomier side of existance."
AE - Doomy* is a housewives' word for realistic. It's a dangerous world.
Realistic. His own word. I suspect he's taken Eldritch as a send-up to his contemporaries - Bauhuas, anyone? Regard his opinion on that hoary old corpse of a horse, the band name...
Meloday Maker, January 1983 wrote:
"The name's nice and ironic" said Andy with a thin grin.
I'll take his word for it. He's realistic. He approaches the world at a different angle - obtusely, if you will, but mysterious? No, he's actually pretty open. The thing is, underneath there is an educated English gentleman, not some bat-eating drug-addled American rockstar. Therein lies the so-called 'mystery' of rock idols. Their bizarre private lives. Andrew's private life is - I
assume - simply not that peculiar.
Again, all of this is nothing more than an opinion...

None intended, I like them.
Does Andrew? Did he? I think not.
Melody Maker, February 1982 wrote:
And whatever you do, don't compare The Sisters of Mercy to Bauhaus.
"We made a tape once and took it down to Rough Trade. Geoff Travis gave it one listen...and said 'It's like Bauhaus."..."You're constantly coming up against people like that. They work in weird and wonderful ways..."
I'm just assuming Eldritch is an almighty send-up of Murphy.
