Fav and least Fav sisters songs + best cover version

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Just remembered 1959 I like very much.I expect this song could be a least fav with a few?

I read somewhere that 1959 was written by a girl called Isabelle. She sent the lyrics to Von and that's how we got 1959.
At the very end of the song he mentions her name. :notworthy:

Well... from what I recall, the inspiration for the song came from Isabelle, who wrote to the man asking him if he would consider writing a song based on just him and a piano..

The title obviously being his year of birth and I figure the lyrics are his...

I loved the Emma version on the back of the 12" Dominion. I also love the one on the Wake video too.

I only recently aquired the SKOS/ Comfortably numb after hearing Paddy's gang do it at Crewe (so out of touch i've been  )

Faves are Logic, Alice, Nine while Nine, SKOS, FloodII, Poison Door, Anaconda.

Stinkers? Not many i don't like really, eerrrrrrr, Dominion i was never a great fan of and Detonation Boulevard got on my nerves too

Hmm. Maybe we should make this a little more...demanding, and establish a limit of songs? Maybe three Favourite and three Hated?

It's a little wide of the mark to lump SSV tracks in with the girls' repertoire, is it not?

Best - which ever song is my fave this week. Often that means Ribbons or Crash & Burn. Always means Untitled (Dominion b-side). Always means all of Gift, if that counts  . Definite special mention for Untitled (long demo). :notworthy:

Worst - I'd never miss On The Wire or Giving Ground live, but that's due to over-familiarity.

Best cover - Emma, Gimme Shelter, Comfortably Numb. And Jolene (but that's four).[/i]
There is increasing evidence to suggest that Chris may have been being sarcastic.

Motz - Just as FFS Dave said, SSV is not - I presume - really a part of the original question. I put it to elamanamou to arbitrate...

S'pose not. But blame Dark, he did it first ;)

But if we're going to be like that, doesn't that make all of the Sisterhood songs covers? :innocent:

Motz, you are REALLY pushing it now.

(And I think the untitled guitar song thing, is not the I Was Wrong riffs, I think he means the one that's on a sistersrarities group with the 2 tape mixes of TC, with Candle. At least I think so. That version seems to cut off after about 4 minutes, but it may be a guitar part in Corrosion.)
