Now I know I've not been the most attentive of devotees over the past two decades, but why the fnck does Eldritch seem to prefer playing au continet? Is it a Big in Japan kind of thing?
Or does one verse of Marian in German make you some kind of god over there?

Because folks in mainland Europe have better taste in music, simple.
They're not afraid to indulge in a bit of oh-so-passe Goth Rock silliness... wheras everyone over here's so damn uptight about having the latest trousers and listening THE f**king LIBERTINES and whatever other s**t the NME is telling me I should like this week...
...sorry.
But, really, he just knows where it's at, that's all.
Germany.
T'was ever thus.

But I am an oh-so-passe Goth - and have been since I was a wee strip of a lass; actually, when I do the maths, its half my life (but thats way to scary to contemplate
).
Still - I know exactly what you mean - I am forever moaning about how there is nowhere for people like me to go out at a weekend any more and it is because the trendies have taken over. And don't get me started about the people who call themselves goth but have never heard of the Sisters

Read the interviews; he simply doesn't like England anymore, for any variety of reasons, be it politics, the press, the fans, the promoters, the society, everything...
He's not far wrong.
