Heartland

So. Anyone have anything interesting to say about Southampton? The place, not the team? I'm moving there in August and I don't know the area that well. I'll need to buy a house for me, MrsChris and MiniChris, which I am worried about because it's expensive and we're not even anywhere near the dreaded '''property ladder'''

Do any of the Heartlanders live in the vicinity? Know of anywhere you can buy a house without having a quarter of a million quid? I know some people in Eastleigh, which doesn't appeal that much...

It will be good to be back in In-Ger-Land anyway...I'm just hoping Southampton stay up at the moment so I can see them crushed by Chelsea once a year

I don't know Southampton, but it's near enough to my early childhood home of Bournemouth for me to wish you and yours the best of luck.

I've only been there for 2 days visiting a friend in Shirley. I could ask her about house prices and best areas to live in if you want. The area seemed OK, bar the usual gatherings of bored teenagers on the streets. One thing I did like was the weather. As soon as I walked out the airport, I saw some plants that just don't grow in Scotland's climate. I believe there's even a couple of stunted palms somewhere!
