cool Mike Leigh film about a couple of Cure-obsessed girls living in london in the mid 80s.

also, the soundtrack has loads of cure tracks from circa 1984 (mainly from japanese whispers) on it...

the two main female characters and the lead male are all completely f**king crackers

I had a crush on her when she was playinng Lucy Collins in Brookside when it first started

I bumped into her in Hampsted a few years ago and started chatting (as you do) despite me probing her about what was she doing in London and does she still teach for the Belvoir Pony Club - she seemed totally bemused - five mins later it suddenly dawned on me that yes I did know her but NOT through Pony Club

Oh and...yes I spotted the poster too

Haven't seen From Hell so I can't comment on that one.

Most girls "work" ; for most its a labour of love/lust than a profession though

The Body and Soul poster is also in the movie "The Hidden" with Kyle MacLachlan. I believe it there is also a m*****n "Severina" poster as well. It is seen in the record store scene.

I found a cheap comic, called "Curse of the Transvestite", in a second-hand book store, it was about a transvestite and her killer Ventriloquist Doll.

Near the end the doll puts on the Sisters of Mercy.

The Transvestite begs the doll to stop the music because it's driving her insane, at this point the Ventriloquist doll becomes human and precedes to stab the Transvestite to death.

I have no idea what the comic was about but I was surprised to see the Sisters in a comic.

OH, and I saw this tacky childrens show about crack addicts called Junk.

In the television show all the addicts had posters of the Sisters of Mercy on their walls.

The show was really cheesy, I watched it to see how many posters I could spot.

I spotted four posters.

Fair enough, I know it's naff. I think that's what the characters in the movie call themselves though IIRC.

PS I've got only 4 Sisters posters on my walls... but I've got pneumonia as well

Speaking of Sisters references popping up in unexpected places, anybody have a copy to hand of the 2000 AD two page p*ss-take of the Sisters from the late 80s? It featured Floodland Era Eldritch and Pat Morrison. I might actually have the damned thing stored in the attic somewhere, but it'd be great if someone's scanned it. If not, will do my best to do the job myself some time
