i'm sure this must have been done(to death)elsewhere(...pretends to look dilligently..stops pretending...)but is "goodthings" a TSOM original?if so is there one good reason why it was never released?i've got a few "sessions" versions, the best appearing on a bootleg 7" which credits the writing to stooges (or velvet underground-can't remember off the top of my head)which i'm pretty certain's bull s**t

Lets get this over with
Yes it is original, one of the first lot of songs they used to play in fact. It was recorded for the 2nd Peel Session but has never had an offical release. It appears on various boots in various guises as it was demo'd a few times, but the best version is still the Peel one.

yeah,'s one of my faves too;i always thought it must be one of their own but seeing as the girls did actually release records back then i never understood(and still dont)its abscence on anything official.nowadays of course failing to release perfectly good tracks is all the rage[cue "that old chestnut"]

From what I understand, it was never released as a single because when the demo version "leaked" out, Andy didn't think it worthwhile to compete with the "unofficial" release.

Oh, same old same old - "well there are so many bootlegs on the market - whats the point of releasing anything new?"

Not meaning to cement my anorak further, but could the whole "reformation so uncertain" have been a little get out clause for whenever he doesn't feel like getting a band together to record/tour/feign existence?

Blimey, that's planning ahead considering the song was written in 1981!
