Revenge of the Sith

Saw it last night and I have to say it delivers.
Suitably dark, not a bloody ewok in sight, and lots of things going boom!

The only thing Lucas never really gets to grip with is the love story between Padme and Anakin, but to fair it's probably advanced enough for your average ten year old kid or thirty-something emotionally retarded fanboy.

Damn, and I'd promised to stop being cruel about people without provocation...

Anyway, more or less works for me.
How did everyone else find it?

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I did have an initial concern that parts of the film, particularly toward the end, were perhaps more concerned with ticking off the various elements that had to be resolved to lead in to A New Hope, than with just getting on with telling a good story in its own right. Strangely though, the more I thought about it afterward, and discussed with others (like the emotionally retarded fanboy I am), the more satisfied I am with the way it turned out.

As a sci-fi action adventure movie, it's probably one of the best around. The Anakin / Padme love story may be a little trite in places, but I think it does show that (on Anakin's part at least), it was as much an obsession as a romance. Not sure about others, but I can relate to that...

I actually watched Star Wars (A New Hope) this morning, and I found I enjoyed it more because of what was shown in Episode 3. I felt as though I had more of an understanding of the characters' background and motivations (Vader, particularly), and that just added to the experience.

And didn't Anakin come to a particularly nasty end?

It's f**king awesome!

In a way I felt sad though, as Episode IV was the first film I ever saw and - although we all knew what was going to happen in I-III, seeing RotS now "completes the circle" as Vader would say, and there's nothing more to look forward to

...Except the 6-disc release :D

...Which as a new Dad I shouldn't be able to afford

...But will :innocent:

I liked it, a lot! From the opening scene and onwards it was like going on a rollercoaster-ride. Silly but a lot of fun. I wanna do it again.

Funnily enough that was my thought - hold off buying any of the films
on DVD until they're presented as a new package, doubtless with a few
juicy extras.

Don't know if any of you have been reading this :

If not, find the oldest post and work your way up. It covers eps 4-6. Excellent writing throughout.

Cannot summon the energy to go see it myself. Might later...

Is it worth it? I couldn't stand the others...

Mark Kermode didn't really rate it - and he's usually pretty good - but having read this thread I will give it a go. Was offered a DVD at the weekend but my husband wants to go to the cinema to see it first........ I don't do cinemas so will wait until he's been then borrow that DVD :D

I can wait as not a huge fan - particularly of 1 & 2 - have enjoyed 4 - 6 on several occasions so hope 3 stands up to them
