He was indeed a genuine original. I think they should festoon his coffin in those ties. It would be quite a sight.

when anybody ever complained at countdown being on my response was always "you dont like it 'cause you're crap at it."9 times out of ten this would be the case but occasionly the reason given would be "no,its him".
i cant see what the problem was.i always maintained that he was the sort of bloke who it'ld be cool to sit and have a pint with.i'm glad i was right.
i'm sad to hear he's dead.
RIP.

Somebody told me down the phone. That was a bit odd to tell you the least. You don't generally get a courtesy call to tell you...
Adios, mate.

In Whiteley's honour I have composed a short haiku made of nine-letter words.
Televised departure.
Mortality bereaving Vorderman.
Merciless countdown continues.

Where's Richey James? He usually turns up when someone famous dies so he can repost his regular "mass-media inspired fake-mourning" tirade.

He'll be busy walking the ferret, haranguing Big Issue sellers and browsing the Ikea catalogue.

To be fair, I doubt many Australian TV personalities are famous over here...
